63-year-old Carlton Crawford the truck driver who has been charged with vehicular manslaughter after crashing into a stalled vehicle on I-84 between Jerome and Twin Falls was in court yesterday. A 33-year-old Twin Falls woman was on the phone with 911 asking for assistance around 5 am Tuesday when the crash occurred. She died at the scene.

There has been a deputy involved shooting. It happened on I-84 in Elmore County. Police say a deputy attempted to take a 36-year-old male driver into custody. The suspect was reportedly driving recklessly Tuesday afternoon when he crashed igniting a small brush fire. When the deputy attempted to take the man into custody he began to fight. The deputy then shot the man several times. He is in critical condition.

There is another delay for the execution of Thomas Creech. The Idaho department of Corrections was told yesterday the court needs more time to consider legal claims related to his federal petition. He was scheduled to die this coming Wednesday.

Idaho lawmakers will see an increase in their pay from $19,913, to $25,000 per year for the next two years. The Citizens’ Committee on Legislative Compensation unanimously approved this increase yesterday.
The results are finally in for the hotly contested District 26 race between Republican Laurie Lickley and Democrat Ron Taylor. In the end, Taylor received the nod with 45.6 percent over Lickley’s 43.9 percent. The delay was due to the late opening of absentee ballots in Blaine County.

The 75-year-old Mountain Home woman who was struck by a car while she was in a city crosswalk has died. It happened in Mountain Home Tuesday evening.

Candidates are being reminded that all political campaign signs must be removed from the public right of way within 48 hours following Election Day. Many ordinances in the gem state say campaign signs should be taken down by the end of today. Some could face a fee for removal if they remain up.

SPORTS

The College of Southern Idaho exited the Region 18 Tournament Wednesday with a 3 to 0 loss to Utah State University Eastern. CSI ends the 2024 campaign with a 9-17 overall record.
Boise State women’s soccer advanced to the Mountain West Championship final match following a 3-2 victory over San Diego State, last night. The Broncos advanced to the title match of the 2024 Mountain West Championship. Boise State will play Utah State on Saturday at 7 p.m. MT in an effort to earn the conference tournament title. The winner between the Broncos and Aggies will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
This weekend, all eyes are on Twin Falls, Idaho, as the No. 12 College of Southern Idaho gears up to host the highly anticipated Battle for the Boot. This electrifying tournament today through Saturday, features some of the most promising junior college talent in the nation, including the top-rated South Plains College from Texas. With a lineup boasting over a dozen Division, I prospect; the competition is set to be fierce. This tournament is not just about basketball; it’s also a noteworthy collaboration between CSI men’s basketball and the Jae Foundation, a local nonprofit committed to promoting mental health awareness.
Coming off of a much-needed bye week, the Idaho State Bengals travel to Ogden Utah this weekend to take on the Weber State Wildcats. This is the 64th all-time meeting of the Bengals and Wildcats with the series going back to 1962. The Bengals haven’t defeated the Wildcats in a decade, the last win being a 46-28 win in 2014. ISU has not won in Ogden since the 1984 season.
Idaho overcame a 16-point first half deficit to tie game at 57 with 2:32 left to play, but BYU hit a pair of clutch shots and made a late defensive stand to hold off the Vandals for a 67-62-win last night in the women’s basketball season opener for both teams. Idaho’s home opener is on Nov. 13, against Walla Walla University on Nov. 13 at 6 p.m.
