🚨 CRASH SHUTS DOWN HIGHWAY

Idaho State Police say a crash yesterday morning at Highway 30 and 3300 East between Twin Falls and Kimberly sent one man to the hospital. A semi hauling a tractor was rear-ended by another truck, spilling potatoes across the road. The intersection was shut down for about five hours.


🏥 HEALTH COVERAGE DROPS

Congress didn’t extend deeper health insurance subsidies, and now about 30 thousand more Idahoans could go uninsured this year. A new report from Your Health Idaho shows rising premiums are pushing people out, with more than 24 thousand dropping coverage since enrollment.


⚠️ LOW WATER LEVEL WARNING

Water levels at Salmon Dam are running unusually low, and Twin Falls County deputies are urging boaters to be careful. Officials say exposed hazards like rocks and debris are now a concern, with limited ramp access in some areas.

Lobbying groups spent more than 784-thousand dollars during Idaho’s legislative session this year. The top spender was the American Federation for Children, which spent over 142-thousand dollars, mostly tied to private school choice and lawmakers who supported House Bill 93.


🏫 SCHOOL BOND PROPOSAL

With school districts asking for decisions on levies and bonds, Kimberly is proposing a 57-point-8-million-dollar bond for new school and community facilities, plus a 5-million-dollar levy for maintenance and upgrades. If approved, that would cost taxpayers about 317 dollars per 100 thousand in property value.


🇺🇸 VETERANS DISTRICT VOTE

Voters next month will decide on a new veterans Hunt cemetery maintenance district, funding about 80-thousand dollars a year. It would cost property owners roughly 16 dollars per 100 thousand in value.

District tournament action is heating up across Southern Idaho. In Burley, Minico rolled past Wood River 16 to 6, then Burley knocked off Wood River 14 to 7 to end the Wolverines’ season. Now it’s set—Burley takes on Minico today.


🥎 SOFTBALL DOMINANCE

Burley stayed dominant in softball, sweeping Canyon Ridge 13-3 and 11-5. The Bobcats now head to Minico Saturday.


⚾ 5A ACTION

Jerome opened district play strong, beating Mountain Home 10-2 behind Sawyer Tilley, who struck out eight. Twin Falls crushed Mountain Home 25-2, while the Bruins also swept Jerome in softball. Minico picked up two wins over Wood River.


🏆 SCIC STATEMENT WIN

Kimberly exploded for 27 runs in a dominant doubleheader sweep over Buhl to lock up the conference title.

Local baseball today includes Kimberly at Marsh Valley at 3:30, Soda Springs at Declo at 4, Glenns Ferry at Idaho City at 4, and Wendell at Malad at 4. Tomorrow, Declo returns to Malad at 11 AM.

Softball this weekend features Glenns Ferry vs Genesee at 3:30 today, plus Soda Springs at Declo, Kimberly at Gooding, and Wendell at Malad at 4. Glenns Ferry faces Prairie at 5:30. Saturday includes multiple matchups starting at 10:30 AM and continuing through the afternoon.


⚾ CSI CLOSE CALL

The College of Southern Idaho fell to Salt Lake 6-5. CSI trailed 6-0 before rallying in the ninth. Tayson Howard drove in two, and Cade Burnham hit a three-run homer, but the comeback fell short. CSI is now 39-11 and plays a doubleheader Friday, still leading the conference by one game.
