Today is the deadline for Idaho voters to request an absentee ballot for the May 20 local elections. Requests must be submitted by 5 p.m. at voteidaho.gov. Polls will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day for in-person voting.


🏛️ Governor Visit & State Policy
Governor Brad Little visited CSI to highlight the LAUNCH program’s success, reporting a 25% increase in career tech enrollment. He also defended the $50 million school choice tax credit, celebrated water infrastructure improvements, and promoted new tax relief measures under House Bill 40.


👮‍♂️ Fallen Officer Memorial
The Twin Falls Police Department unveiled a permanent memorial for Officer Craig Bracken, killed in the line of duty in 1939. His uniform—still showing the bullet hole and blood stains—is now displayed in a museum-quality case honoring his sacrifice.


📺 Dateline Special: Moscow Murders
NBC’s Dateline airs a new special tonight with never-before-reported evidence in the Moscow murders case. The two-hour episode will include photos, phone data, and exclusive interviews ahead of Bryan Kohberger’s trial in August.


⚖️ Lori Vallow Daybell Case
An Arizona prosecutor opposes a new trial for Lori Vallow Daybell, dismissing claims of misconduct. Vallow was convicted of murdering her husband in 2019. A judge is reviewing the request and will decide in the coming weeks.


🚧 Road Safety Warning

Dr. Marlene Tromp is stepping down as Boise State University president after Saturday’s commencement, where over 4,000 degrees will be awarded. She’s heading to the University of Vermont. Dr. Jeremiah Shinn will serve as interim president.

🥎 Softball: Jerome Wins District
The Jerome Tigers defeated Burley 17-7 to claim their first Great Basin title since 2022. Peyton Thompson drove in 5 runs, and Emma Allen hit a 2-run homer. Both teams advance to the 5A State Tournament in Caldwell starting May 15.

Baseball: Burley Falls to Lewiston
Burley’s baseball team lost 5-3 to Lewiston in a 5A play-in series. Jake Redder had two hits and scored once. Casen Cooper pitched 104 pitches, making him ineligible for Game 2. Burley plays again today at 11 a.m. in a must-win.

🥎 CSI Softball to Nationals
The College of Southern Idaho softball team won the Region 18 Championship, defeating Salt Lake CC 6-4. Ava Howell and Alyce Archuleta homered. Eva Stoddard was named MVP. CSI heads to the NJCAA Division I Nationals in Yuma, AZ, May 19–24.

🥎 Idaho State Falls in Semis
Idaho State softball lost 5-2 to Weber State in the Big Sky semifinals. Olivia Robison drove in both runs. ISU plays a must-win game Friday at 2:30 p.m. against Sacramento State or Northern Colorado.

🏀 Idaho Men’s Basketball Momentum
The Idaho Vandals reached the Big Sky semifinals under Coach Alex Pribble, with their first tournament win since 2017. Nine players return, including Kolton Mitchell, Kristian Gonzalez, and Jack Payne. The team’s growth is driven by character and culture, not just wins.
