🗳️ IDAHO PRIMARY RESULTS | Budget Committee Changes

Idaho’s powerful budget committee is facing major changes after Tuesday’s primary election.

JFAC Vice Chairmen Senator Jim Woodward and Representative Steven Miller from Fairfield both lost their races, along with Twin Falls Senator Glenneda Zuiderveld, all members of the influential budget-writing committee.


🌾 DROUGHT WATCH | Southern Idaho Water Concerns

Southern Idaho is heading into summer under severe drought conditions, with low snowpack and shrinking reservoirs raising concerns for farmers and wildfire danger.

Officials say American Falls Reservoir is only about 61% full.

About 80 percent of Idaho is in drought right now.


🏘️ GROWTH | Southwest Idaho Keeps Booming

Southwest Idaho continues booming, adding nearly 150-thousand residents since 2020.

New estimates show Meridian is now Idaho’s second-largest city, while Star saw the fastest growth, more than doubling in population over the last six years.


🔥 EASTERN IDAHO FIRE | Thornton Merc Destroyed

A fire continues to burn this morning in Thornton in eastern Idaho after flames destroyed three structures and two outbuildings last night.

The fire started at the Thornton Merc along Yellowstone Highway, forcing evacuations at a nearby RV park as crews battled heavy smoke and fast-moving flames.


🏫 EDUCATION | Parental Choice Tax Credit Reopens

Idaho’s Parental Choice Tax Credit program is reopening May 21st after state officials announced more than 7 million dollars in funding is still available.

Applications will be accepted through August 15th on a first-come, first-served basis.


🚗 TRAFFIC SAFETY | Seatbelt Patrols Increase

Idaho law enforcement is stepping up seatbelt patrols through May 31st.

Idaho law requires everyone in the vehicle to buckle up.


🚧 TWIN FALLS CONSTRUCTION | Waterline Project Begins

Twin Falls drivers should expect delays and changing traffic patterns as a major waterline upgrade project begins near Ash, Elm, and Walnut Streets.

The construction is expected to continue through mid-October.


💨 TWIN FALLS ODOR CONTROL | Sewer Scrubber Project Moving Forward

The City of Twin Falls is moving forward with a permanent odor scrubber project in northwest Twin Falls to help reduce sewer odors.

Construction near Federation Road and Grandview Drive is set to begin next week and wrap up in early July.

🏊 RUPERT POOL | Year-Round Swimming Coming Soon

The city of Rupert is making a splash with a new retractable dome over its public swimming pool, allowing year-round swimming for the first time ever.

City leaders say the $3 million project will expand swim lessons, practices, and competitions, with the upgraded pool expected to open June 1st.


🪂 MOUNTAIN RESCUE | Injured Paraglider Recovering

An injured paraglider is recovering after a dramatic mountain rescue Tuesday night near Lookout Mountain in southern Idaho.

Rescue crews say the pilot crashed after their wing collapsed, and firefighters spent hours performing a technical rope rescue before safely bringing the injured paraglider down from steep terrain.


✍️ BURLEY ATHLETICS | Six Bobcats Sign College Commitments

Six Burley High School student athletes announced their college commitments yesterday.

Three Bobcats are headed to College of Southern Idaho for the school’s new esports program, while Tristan Vega signed with Treasure Valley Community College wrestling, Nicolas Chavez committed to Grace University soccer, and Ashlyn Warr will cheer at Idaho State University.


🏀 CSI WOMEN’S BASKETBALL | New Head Coach Named

College of Southern Idaho has named Brendan Wheeler as the new head coach of the women’s basketball program.

Wheeler comes to CSI after two seasons at Saint Mary’s College of California and takes over for retiring coach Randy Rogers as the Golden Eagles look to build on last season’s national tournament appearance.


📚 BOISE STATE ATHLETICS | Academic Records Set

Boise State Athletics set new academic records this spring, with Bronco student-athletes posting a 3.48 semester GPA and a 3.50 cumulative GPA, both the highest in department history.

School officials say all 18 sports programs finished with at least a 3.0 GPA, while nearly 90 percent of student-athletes earned a 3.0 or better.
