🗳️ PRIMARY ELECTION DAY

Southern Idaho voters are heading to the polls today for Idaho’s 2026 Primary Election.

Idahoans are voting for U.S. Senate, U.S. House, governor, legislative seats, county commissioners, clerks, assessors, coroners, treasurers, plus several school, fire, EMS, and bond levy measures across the state.

There are several key races and local levies on the ballot across Twin Falls, Jerome, Cassia, and Minidoka counties.

Polls are open from 8 this morning and until 8 tonight.

✈️ MOUNTAIN HOME AIR SHOW INVESTIGATION

Investigators are working to determine what caused two F-18 Growler jets to collide during Sunday’s Gunfighter Skies Air Show at Mountain Home Air Force Base.

All four crew members safely ejected, and no one on the ground was hurt.

The jets were worth a combined $314 million.


🚨 OPERATION NO RETURN

Governor Brad Little’s office says Idaho’s “Operation No Return” has now removed more than 80 undocumented immigrants convicted of crimes from the state.

Officials say the program works with ICE to transfer offenders from Idaho jails to federal detention centers for deportation after serving their sentences.


⛽ MEMORIAL DAY TRAVEL

AAA says a record 268 thousand Idahoans are expected to travel this Memorial Day weekend, but higher gas prices could impact plans.

Idaho’s average gas price is now $4.63 a gallon, up more than a dollar from this time last year.


🚧 JEROME ROAD CONSTRUCTION

Drivers in Jerome should expect delays near the I-84 South Jerome Interchange project.

ITD has closed the westbound lane of East Frontage Road North through mid-July for concrete work and new road connections.

Westbound traffic is being detoured to Yakima Avenue while construction continues through the fall.


🏘️ IDAHO HOUSING GROWTH

Governor Brad Little says Idaho now leads the nation in housing growth for the second straight year.

New state data shows Idaho added more than 17 thousand housing units in 2025.


🏍️ EAGLE POLICE INCIDENT

An Eagle Police deputy suffered a minor injury after a 15-year-old on an electric motorcycle allegedly drove recklessly and tried to flee during a traffic stop early yesterday.

The teen now faces felony charges, including aggravated battery on law enforcement.


⚖️ UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO COLLEGE OF LAW

The University of Idaho has named Brian Kane as the new dean of its College of Law.

Kane, a former longtime Idaho chief deputy attorney general and UI alumnus, officially takes over the position July 31.


📚 CECIL ANDRUS HISTORY PROJECT

Boise State University is launching a new project honoring former Idaho Governor Cecil Andrus.

The project includes a public “History Harvest” event this November to collect stories, photos, and memorabilia tied to the longtime Idaho leader.

⚾ CANYON RIDGE BASEBALL HONORS

Canyon Ridge baseball may have struggled in the 6A High Country Conference this season, but the Riverhawks still brought home some major postseason honors.

Senior Christian Waitley was named the conference Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league in batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage.

Dawson Wheeler earned second-team all-conference honors, while Brodee Thomson picked up honorable mention recognition.

Canyon Ridge moves to the 5A Great Basin Conference next season alongside Twin Falls, Jerome, Burley, Minico, Mountain Home, and Wood River.


🥎 GLENNS FERRY SOFTBALL STATE TITLE

The Glenns Ferry Pilots are celebrating their second softball state championship in school history after a perfect 4-and-0 run through the 2A State Tournament.

Freshman pitcher Charlee Stewart threw every pitch for the Pilots at state, while senior captain Sahira Arevalo says bringing the title home for the community made the win even more special.

The team celebrated with a city-wide parade on the back of a fire engine yesterday afternoon.


🏀 IDAHO STATE MEN’S BASKETBALL

Idaho State men’s basketball is bringing an alum back home.

Head Coach Ryan Looney announced Boise native Cam Flabel as the Bengals’ new assistant coach after five seasons at Hawai’i Pacific, where he most recently served as associate head coach and helped lead the Sharks to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
