Crews responded to a gas leak on the 800-block of Washington Street South late last night. A nearby store employee reported hearing a hissing sound followed by a “pop.” Police and firefighters quickly blocked roads, but the shelter-in-place order has since been lifted.


Uncertain Future for Bickel Elementary

The future of Bickel Elementary in Twin Falls remains uncertain as officials explore options to keep the school open amid declining enrollment. Parents are considering alternatives, while the district is evaluating solutions such as student relocation. Closing the school remains a last resort.


Tax Season Begins in Idaho

The Idaho State Tax Commission and the IRS have begun processing 2024 tax returns. For the first time, Idaho residents can use the IRS’s free Direct File program for federal taxes. Approximately 210,000 Idahoans are eligible. Federal returns can also link directly to Idaho’s tax tool for streamlined state filing.


New Forensic Lab Under Construction in Jerome

CSI Golden Eagles Baseball Secures First Win

The CSI Golden Eagles Baseball team earned their first win of the 2025 season, defeating Paradise Valley 5-3 in extra innings. Jack Barker’s two-RBI single in the 10th secured the victory. On the mound, Mason Hartle pitched four solid innings, and the bullpen trio of Fenger, Bartholomew, and Hudman combined for six scoreless innings. CSI now shifts focus to their five-game series against Scottsdale, starting tomorrow.


CSI’s Kennedy Gillette Named Player of the Week

CSI’s Kennedy Gillette was named Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Week after averaging 19 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. She scored 27 points against Salt Lake CC, hitting 6-of-10 from beyond the arc. Gillette leads the Golden Eagles with 14.3 points per game. CSI hosts Snow College tomorrow and USU Eastern on Saturday.


Boise State Women’s Basketball Rallies Past New Mexico

Boise State women’s basketball overcame a 54-43 halftime deficit to defeat New Mexico 89-80. The Broncos dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Lobos 28-10. Dani Bayes and Tatum Thompson led the way with 18 points each. Boise State, now 15-7, will face Wyoming on Saturday at 2 p.m.


Idaho State Men’s Basketball Prepares for Key Homestand

Idaho State men’s basketball begins a crucial homestand this week, starting with their Suits & Sneakers game Thursday against Eastern Washington. The Bengals will also host rival Idaho on Saturday at 2 p.m. and face Northern Colorado on Monday. All games will be streamed on ESPN+.
