The parents of the victims in the Idaho stabbing said Bryan Kohberger can burn in hell. The message comes on the second anniversary of the brutal killings. The message comes as Kohberger’s defense team works to save the 29-year-old from the death penalty. Investigators were able to link Kohberger to the crime from DNA found on a knife sheath at the scene, surveillance videos and cellphone data.
Earlier this month a committee approved increasing pay for Idaho State lawmakers. Now a group of 8 legislators signed a resolution to reject the raises. A Citizens Committee approved a 22% increase in pay for state lawmakers. Republican senator Glenneda Zuiderveld of Twin Falls believe it’s wrong to give themselves that big of an increase when their constituents are barely getting by.
Brian Lowry the 41-year-old head football coach, athletic director, business instructor and coordinator for the gifted and talented in Castleford has been arrested for attempted strangulation. Deputies responded to a welfare check of a woman walking down a country road in Castleford late at night. She allegedly had a red mark around her throat and neck. She allegedly kicked Lowry and clawed him until she broke free and ran down the road, headed to a friend’s home.
It could be a year and cost upwards to a million dollars to repair the Vineyard Road overpass outside of Kimberly near Eden that crosses over I-84. The bridge was struck by a semi-truck hauling a excavator.
Yesterday marked the second day of testimony in the Adkins v. Idaho trial, with Idaho medical professionals arguing that Idaho’s restrictive abortion laws complicate doctors’ ability to provide critical care. The state countered by emphasizing its stance that abortion laws are in place to protect unborn lives.
A former employee of Sterling Urgent Care has been arrested and charged with felony grand theft. 28-year-old Laurel A. Nielsen was taken into custody after she allegedly stole approximately $3,738 from the Lewiston medical facility.
SPORTS
It’s semi-final week in Southern Idaho as six area teams will compete for a chance to advance to their respective state championships. Tonight, Hagerman and Butte County will play at 5:30 then Kimberly and sugar Salem are pitted against each other with game time around 8:15. Both of those games will be played at the mini dome in Pocatello. Tomorrow Tri Valley and Dietrich meet up and Carey and Garden Valley will clash. Both of those games will be in Pocatello. On Saturday Minico and Skyline will play. Firth and Declo will play.
In their first ever season, CSI Men’s Soccer had two athletes honored for their efforts by being named to the All-Region team. Amin Ahssain was the lone Golden Eagle named to the Region 18 First Team, while Caique Maia received Region 18 Second Team honors.
It was a year of many firsts for the CSI Women’s Soccer program, and as the season came to an end, one more first was added to that list as Araya Wood and Kenna Fransen were the first ever All-Region selections.
