🚔 Teen Arrested After High-Speed Chase

Twin Falls County deputies arrested a teenage driver early yesterday morning after a high-speed chase on Pole Line Road. Deputies say the teen rammed a patrol car before being detained near Grandview Drive. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation and later booked into juvenile detention for eluding and driving a stolen vehicle.


🎓 Budget Cuts Hit Idaho Colleges

Idaho’s permanent 3% budget cut is hitting higher education hard. The U of I will eliminate 28 jobs, and the CSI must trim $636,000 cutting four positions and scaling back IT projects. Other state colleges are also reducing staff or raising tuition to meet millions in losses starting July 1.


🛒 Lawmakers Push to Repeal Grocery Tax

Several Idaho lawmakers, including Rep. Clint Hostetler of Twin Falls, are backing a new push to repeal Idaho’s 6% grocery tax. The so-called “Gang of Eight” Republicans are helping collect signatures for a 2026 ballot initiative, arguing the tax hits lower-income families hardest.


⚖️ Life Sentence in Jerome Teen Murder Case

A Jerome teen has been sentenced to 23 years to life for the 2024 murder of 18-year-old Dax Richins. Sixteen-year-old Rolan Delacruz and co-defendant Alexander Garcia lured Richins to a remote area and stabbed him to death. Investigators say Garcia later kept part of Richins’ leg bone as a trophy.


🔫 Kimberly Staff Cleared to Carry Guns

For the first time, vetted staff in the Kimberly School District can now carry concealed firearms on campus. Superintendent Luke Schroeder says the policy aims to improve response times in an active shooter situation and serve as a deterrent.


🚨 ‘Operation No Return’ Transports for ICE

Governor Brad Little’s “Operation No Return” has seen ISP transport more than 50 undocumented immigrants for ICE detention. Most had criminal convictions, though some were still awaiting trial or had charges dismissed. The program, funded with $300,000 in state money, has cost just over $12,000 so far.


🧷 FBI Denies Zip-Tie Allegations in Wilder Raid

Federal officials are denying reports that children were zip-tied or hit with rubber bullets during Sunday’s FBI-led raid in Wilder. The FBI later clarified its statement to say no young children were zip-tied after media outlets shared a photo of a 14-year-old reportedly restrained.


🍞 SNAP Delays Amid Federal Shutdown

Starting next month, Idaho will delay food assistance payments through SNAP because of the ongoing federal government shutdown. SNAP applications will still be accepted, but benefits won’t be distributed until federal funding resumes. WIC benefits are not affected.

State Soccer Tournaments Begin

It’s the opening day of the Idaho State High School Soccer Tournaments, with boys’ and girls’ brackets kicking off statewide.

  • Boys: Canyon Ridge vs. Thunder Ridge (Eagle, 3 PM), Wendell vs. Ambrose (Owyhee), Wood River vs. Nampa (Columbia).
  • Earlier: Bonners Ferry vs. McCall-Donnelly, Caldwell vs. Mountain View, Skyline vs. Sandpoint, Twin Falls vs. Blackfoot (11 AM).

🏐 Volleyball: Kimberly & Valley Advance

The Kimberly Bulldogs are district champs again — claiming the 4A District IV volleyball title and punching their sixth straight trip to state after sweeping Filer in three sets.
Meanwhile, the Valley Vikings are also headed to state after a thrilling 3–1 win over Oakley. Seniors Ariani Flores and Seleni Sanchez call it “a dream come true.”

🏀 Boise State Men’s Basketball Schedule Set

Boise State men’s basketball has announced its full 2025–26 home schedule: sixteen games at Extra Mile Arena, six televised on FOX Sports 1 or CBS Sports Network.

  • Opener: Nov. 3 vs. Hawaii Pacific.
  • Conference Play: Dec. 30 vs. New Mexico (FS1).
  • Home Finale: Mar. 3 vs. San Diego State (CBS Sports Network).

🏀 Vandals Ranked Third in Big Sky Poll

The Big Sky Conference women’s basketball preseason polls are out, and Idaho is picked third by both coaches and media. The Vandals snagged one first-place vote from coaches and seven from the media.
Head Coach Arthur Moreira returns seven players from last year’s 18-win squad and adds eight newcomers — including five-star transfer Debora Dos Santos (San Francisco) and 6’5″ Lorena Barbosa. Expectations are high in Moscow.
