💸 Medicaid Cuts Warning

Idaho disability care providers warn that new Medicaid cuts could force agencies to close. Governor Brad Little ordered 4% budget reductions, though the state hopes to exempt personal care services. Providers say low reimbursement rates already make it hard to hire and keep workers.


🚔 Twin Falls Shooting Investigation

Twin Falls Police responded to reports of shots fired last night at the Rivercrest Apartments on Canyon Crest Drive. Officers say a man intentionally discharged an assault rifle inside an apartment. No one was hurt. The man has been detained for questioning.


🗳️ Election Prep

The Twin Falls County Clerk will run a pre-election accuracy test on ballot machines tomorrow at 3 p.m. at County West. Early voting runs Oct. 20–31, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.


🌊 Snake River Mussel Treatment

The Idaho State Department of Agriculture says the third quagga mussel treatment on the Snake River ended early yesterday. Officials report strong results — no viable mussels found since treatment began — and water could reopen within two weeks.


👮‍♂️ ISP Trooper Deadline Extended

The Idaho State Police have extended their trooper academy application deadline to Friday amid staffing shortages statewide.


🔪 Boise Mall Threat

Boise Police arrested 20-year-old Carlos Delgado-Aleman after he allegedly threatened mall kiosk workers with a knife at Boise Towne Square Monday night. He now faces two felony assault charges.


🍂 Fall Cleanup

Twin Falls residents enrolled in city trash and recycling can bag and toss leaves and small yard debris on their regular pickup day for free.


✈️ Flight Diverted to Boise

A Portland-to-Dallas flight diverted to Boise after a passenger assaulted two crew members. Boise Police arrested 61-year-old Tracy Barkhimer of Washington, who now faces two misdemeanor battery charges.


❄️ Winter Policy Update

The Twin Falls City Council has approved its updated Snow and Ice Control Policy, outlining how crews prioritize streets during winter storms. Major roadways get top priority.


📺 TSA Video Controversy

Boise Airport says it isn’t airing a TSA video of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem blaming Democrats for the government shutdown. The video did play on TSA-owned monitors, which are separate from city-operated screens.

⚽ District Soccer Drama

District soccer tournaments rolled on across Idaho yesterday:

  • 4A boys: Defending state champs Wendell crushed Bliss 9–0 and advance to face Sun Valley after the Cutthroats beat Gooding 3–0.
  • Girls: Canyon Ridge edged Madison 2–1 behind goals from Ella Stokes and Melony Pettingill — they’ll visit Highland for the 6A title. Sun Valley girls defeated Buhl 2–0 and will meet Kimberly (17–1) for the 4A crown.

🏐 Bulldogs’ Stunning Comeback

What a night in Kimberly! The Bulldogs volleyball team pulled off a reverse sweep, rallying from two sets down to beat Filer in five and claim the regular-season conference title and No. 1 seed. Players even performed the national anthem on violins before a packed crowd. Taysia Hudson sealed the win with a final kill. Elsewhere: Valley swept Lighthouse 3-0, Hagerman topped Glenns Ferry 3-0, and Carey beat Castleford 3-1.


🏐 District Volleyball Bracket

Today the action continues with Minico vs. Wood River and Burley vs. Twin Falls. Jerome and Mountain Home are also in the mix. Higher seeds host throughout the week; winners advance Oct. 20-21 with the championship on Oct. 23 (and a possible Game 9 if needed). Top seed Wood River looks to defend its title against hungry challengers.


🏈 Vandals Road Test

The Idaho Vandals head to Cheney Saturday to face Eastern Washington at 4 p.m. Ranked 24th, Idaho seeks to retain the Che-Scow Cup after winning five of the last seven. Elisha “Turbo” Cummings and Rocco Koch lead the Big Sky’s top rushing attack.


⚽ Bengals on the Road

Idaho State women’s soccer visits Northern Colorado Friday and Northern Arizona Sunday. The Bengals sit in a three-way tie for fourth in the Big Sky with seven points and hope to rebound after a 1-0 loss at Montana.


⚽ Broncos in Command

Boise State women’s soccer travels to San Diego State Wednesday and New Mexico Saturday. The Broncos lead the Mountain West with 14 points after a 2-1 win over Fresno State. Cindy Conner and Teryn Newkirk recently scored game-winners, while Kenzie MacMillan leads in assists. Boise State will host the Mountain West Championship later this season.
