🚨 TWIN FALLS-AREA SHOOTING — WOMAN INJURED, MAN FOUND DEAD
A woman is recovering after being shot, and a man was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head inside a Twin Falls-area home last night. Police say the woman was found at the front door with a gunshot wound and taken to the hospital.
🔫 JEROME SHOOTING — INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY
Jerome Police are investigating what appears to be an accidental shooting reported yesterday morning in the 1000 block of South Birch Street. Officers responded to the scene, secured the area, and launched an investigation. Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public. A Jerome man, Yerik Grover Laurente Huarcaya, has been detained for questioning. The victim was taken to St. Luke’s for treatment.
💥 JEROME TNT DISCOVERY — HOMES EVACUATED
Police evacuated two homes in Jerome and closed a two-block area yesterday morning after a resident found an old container labeled TNT at a home in the 100 block of 10th Avenue East. Twin Falls Police bomb specialists were called in to safely remove the material.
🔥 BLAINE COUNTY FIRES — CAUSES IDENTIFIED
Blaine County investigators say a 23-year-old Los Angeles man has been charged with a misdemeanor after the Ohio Fire was sparked by an ammunition spark while people were shooting in Ohio Gulch. Investigators also say the Martin Fire was started by leftover Fourth of July fireworks, and the Cabin Creek Fire was caused by an unattended campfire.
🚗 ONEIDA COUNTY CRASH — POCATELLO MAN DIES
A 31-year-old Pocatello man has died after a crash yesterday afternoon on Interstate 15 in Oneida County. Idaho State Police say the man’s van drifted onto the shoulder and hit a disabled Ford Mustang before rolling into the median. The driver was ejected and later died at the hospital. The Mustang was unoccupied.
💵 IDAHO WAGES — PAYCHECKS GROWING
Idaho workers are seeing bigger paychecks. New federal data shows the state’s average hourly wage climbed nearly 5 percent in 2025 to $29.41 an hour, ranking Idaho third in the nation for wage growth. Employment also increased by more than 12,000 jobs over the past year.
🏫 IDAHO SCHOOL SPENDING — COSTS RISE PER STUDENT
Idaho schools are spending more per student this year, with the statewide average rising about $600 to nearly $13,700 per student. Spending still varies widely, from just over $7,100 at Idaho Home Learning Academy to more than $50,000 in the tiny Three Creek School District. Among the state’s largest districts, Twin Falls spends about $10,400 per student.
🍔 IN-N-OUT TWIN FALLS — RESTAURANT OPENS FRIDAY
In-N-Out Burger officially opens its new Twin Falls restaurant tomorrow on Blue Lakes Boulevard North. The new location will employ about 90 people, with starting pay at $17.50 an hour. Doors open Friday at 10:30 a.m.

🏊 SPUDMAN TRIATHLON — 40TH ANNUAL EVENT
One of Southern Idaho’s biggest sporting traditions celebrates a milestone this weekend. The 40th annual Spudman Triathlon takes place Saturday at River’s Edge Golf Course in Burley, with more than 2,500 athletes registered. What started as a small Lions Club fundraiser that nearly folded has grown into one of the Magic Valley’s most successful community events, raising thousands of dollars each year for local projects and charitable causes through the help of hundreds of volunteers.
🏀 CSI MEN’S BASKETBALL — CUTTER BEUS JOINS GOLDEN EAGLES
The College of Southern Idaho men’s basketball team has added another talented recruit for the 2026-27 season. The 6-foot-10 post Cutter Beus from Melba High School is joining the Golden Eagles after serving an LDS mission. Beus was a Conference Player of the Year and Idaho All-Star MVP, highlighted by a 50-point game and a remarkable 427 rebounds in a single season. Head coach Jeff Reinert says Beus’ versatility, athleticism and competitiveness make him a great fit for the program.
🏃 BOISE STATE TRACK — ACADEMIC HONORS
Boise State is celebrating success in the classroom and on the track. Thirteen Broncos have earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association All-Academic honors, the program’s highest total since 2019. Both the men’s and women’s teams also received USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Awards, recognizing excellence in academic and athletic performance.
🏅 IDAHO STATE HALL OF FAME — BRIAN JANSSEN SELECTED
Longtime Idaho State track and cross-country coach Brian Janssen is headed into the 2026 Idaho State Athletics Hall of Fame. During his 30 years with the Bengals, Janssen coached seven NCAA All-Americans, helped athletes win 79 Big Sky individual titles, and earned Big Sky Cross Country Coach of the Year honors in 2004. He’ll be honored this fall as part of the Hall of Fame class.
🏈 BOISE STATE FOOTBALL — BRONCOS PREPARE FOR 2026
Boise State football is putting the focus on the process as the Broncos get ready for the 2026 season. During media day, head coach Spencer Danielson said accountability, consistency and improving special teams are major priorities heading into fall camp next month. Quarterback Maddux Madsen returns to lead the offense and says this year’s team is determined to accomplish more than just winning a conference title. Boise State opens the season in September with a tough road matchup against Oregon.
