π SNAP WORK REQUIREMENTS EXPAND
More Idahoans receiving SNAP food assistance are now subject to federal work requirements. The changes, which took effect in April, expand the rules to include many veterans, people experiencing homelessness, and some parents.
π° TWIN FALLS BEGINS FY 2027 BUDGET TALKS
The City of Twin Falls begins its Fiscal Year 2027 budget discussions today, giving residents a chance to weigh in on city priorities and spending. Public presentations will continue through August during City Council meetings, with the final budget hearing and adoption scheduled for August 24.
π§ JEROME DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION UNDERWAY
Construction is underway on Jerome’s downtown revitalization project, and drivers should expect delays on Main Street for the next six months. Inside lanes between Birch and Buchanan are now closed as crews remove the median, with traffic reduced to one lane in each direction.
π« CASSIA SCHOOL DISTRICT RESTRUCTURES STAFFING
The Cassia Joint School District is restructuring staffing after enrollment dropped by more than 100 students over the past year. Seventeen teaching positions were eliminated, but district leaders say no employees lost their jobs. They have all been reassigned to fill existing vacancies.
π¨ GOODING MAN KILLED IN ATV CRASH
A 47-year-old Gooding man was killed Friday night after the ATV he was driving crashed into a tree near Pine. Idaho State Police says two passengers, also from Gooding, were flown to a hospital with injuries after the crash on Lester Creek Road.
π₯ KIMBERLY FAMILY ESCAPES HOUSE FIRE
A Kimberly family escaped a devastating house fire early yesterday morning after a neighbor spotted their truck on fire and woke them up. No injuries were reported, but the home was heavily damaged.
β½ IDAHO GAS PRICES DROP
Idaho drivers are getting a little more relief at the pump. The average price for regular gas is now $4.02 a gallon, down 9 cents from last week and 51 cents from a month ago.
π₯ CLAREMONT FIRE BURNS MORE THAN 2,000 ACRES
A fast-moving wildfire in the Boise Foothills has burned more than 2,000 acres, prompting trail closures and evacuations in parts of the area. Firefighters continue battling the Claremont Fire while officials have closed portions of the Ridge to Rivers trail system and nearby BLM lands through July 11.
π₯ KUNA FIRE BURNS MORE THAN 2,400 ACRES
A wildfire near Kuna has burned more than 2,400 acres. Evacuations have been lifted, and crews are gaining control.
π₯ LEVEL 3 EVACUATIONS EAST OF REXBURG
Meanwhile, a wildfire east of Rexburg has prompted Level 3 evacuation orders. Residents are urged to leave immediately.

βΎ TWIN FALLS COWBOYS FINISH COWBOY CLASSIC
The Twin Falls AA Cowboys wrapped up their home Cowboy Classic over the weekend, finishing 1-and-3. After picking up an 8-to-3 win over the Utah Yaks behind 6 RBIs from Hoyt Murray, the Cowboys fell 14-to-1 to the Lethbridge Elks in the tournament finale.
Kaden Black led Twin Falls with 6 hits over 4 games, while the Cowboys now hit the road for the Utah Pathway Tournament beginning today, where they will face some of the top 18-under teams from across the western United States and Canada.
π₯ CSI SOFTBALL SIGNS SAYLOR SHOEMAKER
The College of Southern Idaho softball team is already reloading for next season, signing Owyhee High School standout Saylor Shoemaker.
The speedy outfielder helped lead the Storm to another Idaho 6A state championship, batting .417 with 35 hits, 17 RBIs, and 22 stolen bases.
Shoemaker joins the Golden Eagles as CSI looks to replace All-American Adi Hansen, who transferred to Oklahoma after setting the program’s career and single-season stolen base records. CSI is aiming for another Region 18 title and a return trip to the NJCAA National Tournament in 2027.
π EMERGENCY FISH SALVAGE ORDER ISSUED
Water levels at Magic Reservoir have dropped to just 7.6% of capacity, forcing the Big Wood Canal Company to begin shutting off water through Magic Dam.
With parts of the Big Wood River expected to dry up below the dam, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game has issued an emergency fish salvage order through October 1.
Anglers can catch and keep unlimited fish along portions of the Big Wood River below the dam and the Richfield Canal using nearly any legal method.
Officials say the goal is to save as many fish as possible before the water disappears following Idaho’s extremely dry winter.
π BOISE STATE LEADS PRESEASON PAC-12 HONORS
Boise State leads the way in the preseason Pac-12 honors, placing 20 players on the Athlon Sports All-Pac-12 teams.
Jayden Virgin-Morgan earned fourth-team Preseason All-America honors while also landing on the All-Pac-12 First Team after recording 16 sacks over the past 2 seasons.
Joining him on the first team are standout running back Dylan Riley and 7 other Broncos. Quarterback Maddux Madsen headlines the second team as Boise State prepares for its first season in the Pac-12 Conference.
