π HIGHWAY 93 DRUG BUST
Idaho State Police say a traffic stop on Highway 93 south of Twin Falls led to a major drug bust. Troopers seized nearly 12 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $90,000.
Three people were arrested and charged with meth trafficking and related drug offenses.
π BOISE STATE PRESIDENTIAL SEARCH
BSU has named a finalist in its presidential search. David Hahn, dean of engineering at the University of Arizona, is the sole candidate for the position.
Hahn will meet with campus stakeholders this week, and the State Board of Education could name him Boise Stateβs next president on July 1.
π³οΈ IDAHO CAMPAIGN FUNDRAISING
Governor Brad Little continues to dominate Idaho campaign fundraising, reporting more than $2 million raised this year.
Independent gubernatorial candidate John Stegner is the top challenger with about $365,000 raised, while Attorney General RaΓΊl Labrador ranks second statewide with more than $570,000 in campaign contributions.
π§ IDAHO CHILD WELL-BEING REPORT
A new Kids Count report ranks Idaho 13th in the nation for overall child well-being.
The state showed improvements in teen pregnancy and child poverty rates, but education remains a challenge, ranking 36th nationally, with nearly seven in ten Idaho students below grade-level proficiency in reading or math.
π₯ IDAHO WILDFIRE SEASON
Governor Brad Little says Idaho is ready for what could be a challenging wildfire season.
Despite the state’s wildfire suppression fund reaching zero, Little says firefighting efforts will continue using emergency funding mechanisms.
Idaho has increased staffing to 260 seasonal firefighters this year.
Officials say most wildfires are still caused by human activity.
π» IDAHO BATHROOM LAW PARTIALLY BLOCKED
A federal judge has partially blocked Idaho’s new bathroom law before it takes effect July 1st.
The ruling prevents enforcement against transgender people using certain public restrooms, saying parts of the law are too vague and could lead to discriminatory enforcement.
However, provisions involving changing rooms will still take effect.
Idaho Attorney General RaΓΊl Labrador says the state plans to appeal.
π² SUMMIT CREEK FIRE CONTAINED
The Summit Creek Fire near Independence Lakes in Cassia County is now 100 percent contained.
Road closures have been lifted, but crews continue monitoring the area.
Visitors should use caution around burned trees, unstable ground, and falling rocks.

π€ CSI ATHLETES COMPETE AT COLLEGE NATIONAL FINALS RODEO
The College National Finals Rodeo continues through Saturday in Casper, Wyoming, and Southern Idaho is well represented.
The College of Southern Idaho has nine athletes competing for national titles in events ranging from breakaway roping and goat tying to saddle bronc, bareback, and bull riding.
CSI qualifiers include Hayden Corta, Ellie Thurgood, Ella Begger, Hailey Gibbs, Chase Andrade, Dahl Winters, Christian Bolli, Ashton Zabriskie, and Mason Reine.
Competitors have completed the opening rounds, with more performances scheduled through Friday before Saturday’s championship finals.
CSI’s best chances may come in breakaway roping, where the Golden Eagles have three national qualifiers.
Athletes are also battling for spots in the short-go finals as the week continues in Casper.
π BOISE STATE BASKETBALL UPDATE
Boise State men’s basketball received some tough offseason news this week as Bronco forward Ty Rodgers is dealing with a medical issue.
The program has not released many details, but the situation is considered a significant setback as the Broncos prepare for the upcoming season.
Boise State officials say they’ll provide updates when appropriate while continuing to support Rodgers during his recovery.

Boise State fans can now lock in their seats for the Broncos’ first season in the Pac-12.
Boise State Athletics has announced 2026 football mini plans are on sale now, offering flexible two- and three-game packages.
Package One includes Memphis, Texas State, and San Diego State, starting at 129 dollars per seat.
Package Two features South Dakota and Oregon State, with prices starting at 79 dollars per seat.
The Broncos open their inaugural Pac-12 season September 5th on the road at Oregon.

π TWIN FALLS PARK GATE HOURS
The City of Twin Falls is temporarily changing gate hours at Dierkes Lake and Shoshone Falls Park in response to an increase in vandalism after dark.
Effective immediately, the entrance gate at Dierkes Lake will close nightly at 9 p.m. and reopen each morning at 7 a.m.
City officials say the earlier closure is intended to protect park facilities and keep the area safe and enjoyable for visitors.
πΊπΈ JEROME COUNTY FAIR AND RODEO UPGRADES
With just 55 days until opening day, the Jerome County Fair and Rodeo is putting the finishing touches on several major facility upgrades.
Improvements include new ADA-accessible sidewalks to the grandstands, upgraded irrigation, new lighting, security cameras, and roofing projects.
A new Depew Arena sign is also on the way, while construction continues on a new 4-H food booth.
This year’s fair theme is “Stars, Stripes and Summer Nights” in celebration of America 250.
