💰 BUDGET CUT WARNING
Idaho Governor Brad Little’s budget chief, Lori Wolff, is warning lawmakers that proposed five-percent budget cuts could cause long-term harm. In a letter to the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee, Wolff says the reductions could impact courts, senior meal programs, schools, and tax refunds. She is urging lawmakers to restore thirteen million dollars in funding.
🚩 FLAG RESTRICTION BILL ADVANCES
Supporters and critics filled the Idaho Statehouse this week as lawmakers debated House Bill 561, which would restrict which flags can fly at government buildings. The bill has now advanced to the Idaho House floor.
🩺 LEGISLATIVE HEALTH UPDATE
State Representative Don Hall says he will rely on legislative alternates Grayson Stone and Casey Swenson while dealing with health concerns. Hall says he remains committed to serving District 25A.
⚖️ IMMIGRATION RAID LAWSUIT
Three families are suing federal and local agencies over last fall’s immigration raid in Wilder. The ACLU of Idaho says officers used aggressive tactics and unlawfully detained hundreds of people, including children.
🕊️ DEATH ROW INMATE DIES
The Idaho Department of Corrections says death row inmate Erick Hall died of natural causes Monday night. Hall was sentenced to death in 2004 for two counts of first-degree murder.
📜 BLAINE AMENDMENT VOTE FAILS
Idaho lawmakers have voted down a measure that would have allowed voters to decide whether to repeal the state’s century-old Blaine Amendment. The proposal fell short of the required two-thirds support. Supporters say the amendment protects separation of church and state, while critics call it discriminatory.
🏥 SUPREME COURT SIDES WITH ST. LUKE’S
The Idaho Supreme Court has ruled in favor of St. Luke’s Health System, rejecting an appeal by Diego Rodriguez in a defamation case tied to protests involving Ammon Bundy.
🚘 LICENSE PLATE STICKERS COULD GO AWAY
A bill that would eliminate registration stickers on Idaho license plates is moving forward. House Bill 533 now heads to the Senate. Supporters say modern technology makes stickers unnecessary and could save the Idaho Department of Transportation about three hundred thousand dollars.
⚓ USS IDAHO COMMISSIONING
The USS Idaho will be commissioned April twenty-fifth in Connecticut at Naval Submarine Base New London. The United States Navy says the submarine features technology developed in Idaho, including work from Idaho National Laboratory.

🏆 OAKLEY HEADED BACK TO STATE
The defending 2A state champion Oakley Hornets are headed back to state after rolling past Raft River 51 to 19 in the district title game. Oakley’s seniors were dominant on both ends of the court. The Hornets are expected to be a top seed when state tips off next week.
🔥 GIRLS DISTRICT COMEBACK
In the earlier girls game, Valley pulled off a comeback win over Hagerman, 56 to 50, setting up a matchup with Raft River Thursday night in Murtaugh for a shot at the state play-in.

The Idaho Vandals host Weber State Thursday night at 6:00 at ICCU Arena. Idaho won the earlier matchup 75 to 67 and has won three straight in the series.
The Idaho Vandals women debut at number 22 in the Women’s Mid-Major Top 25. Idaho has won eight straight and leads the Big Sky at 19 and 5. They travel to Weber State Thursday in Ogden.
The Idaho State Bengals travel to Eastern Washington Thursday at 7:00 in Cheney, then face rival Idaho Saturday at 3:00. Idaho State leads the league in bench scoring.
