The weather is again making headlines this morning. Officials with the national weather service say heavy snow is expected with total accumulations of one to two feet above 8-thousand feet elevation. Gusty winds could also lead to blowing and drifting snow. The weather warning is in effect starting tomorrow morning and extending through Friday morning.

This year, the Idaho Legislature passed three new laws to regulate artificial intelligence targeting explicit and political deep fakes, and AI-generated material that is exploitative of children. Before the Idaho Legislature reconvenes in January, a legislative panel is studying AI for possible new state laws.

Blue Cross of Idaho appealed an Idaho judge’s dismissal of its lawsuit that alleged the state used an unlawful contracting process to switch government employee health insurers. Since the lawsuit was dismissed, that meant Regence BlueShield of Idaho remained Idaho’s government employee health insurer. Blue Cross, which held the contract since 2004, alleged Idaho used an unlawful, new process to award the now $1.1 billion contract and asked for the judge to invalidate it.

Gooding police are investigating an incident of an injured man with a gunshot wound. Police responded to the North Canyon Medical Center on Friday night after a man entered with a bullet lodged in his back. The 36-year-old victim was transferred to St. Alphonsus hospital in Boise with non-life-threatening injuries authorities say.

A power outage caused Jerome Schools to delay opening yesterday. A power outage affected most of Jerome began around 6 am. By 8:30 the power had been restored. The school district sent out a message to parents that schools were closed. Then the district sent a second message after power was restored that the schools would open at 10 am.

Bryan Kohberger’s legal team has filed some 160 pages of court documents challenging a wide selection of crucial evidence in the Idaho murders trial and calling for it to be thrown out. Kohberger, a former Washington State University criminology student, is accused of murdering four University of Idaho students at their off-campus home in November 2022.

Four Broncos scored in double figures as Boise State women’s basketball cruised past College of Idaho, 86-34, yesterday. The win completed a perfect start to the team’s four-game homestand to open the season. The start marks the second consecutive season that Boise State has started 4-0 and the third time in the last five seasons. The Broncos will head to the Chase Center for a neutral-site matchup against San Francisco on Thursday, Nov. 21. The game will tip off at 5 p.m.

After helping Boise State take down Clemson at home on Sunday with a double-double performance, Tyson Degenhart was named the Mountain West Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 17. Degenhart picked up his first career MW Player of the Week honor after scoring a team-high 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds against Clemson to lead the Broncos to an 84-71 win.

Skiers and snowboarders rejoice as several mountain resorts are expected to open this weekend. Brundage Mountain officials said if weather permits, their season will open on Friday. Bogus Basin Mountain officials said their mountain opening date is Saturday. Sun Valley Resort officials said their mountain opening date is Thursday, Nov. 28. Tamarack Resort has yet to announce its 2024/25 ski season.
This summer the Caldwell Night Rodeo celebrated its hundredth year. And as they look toward the next century, they are making some improvements. Yesterday the rodeo launched a $7.5 million project to bring enhancements to the rodeo grounds. The project includes a new announcer booth, 20 sky boxes, and upgrades to the Coors Corner sections.

Valley heads to Dietrich and Declo goes to Filer, while Jerome is on the road to Kimberly. Rimrock goes to Murtaugh. Hagerman will meet up in Oakley while Minico travels to Preston. Glenns Ferry goes to Richfield. Hansen heads to Shoshone, Canyon Ridge to Vallivue and Gooding goes to Wendell.
