Fish and Game officers say 13 hunters are facing 114 charges after investigation indicated the group didn’t have tags for Game management unit 54’s-controlled hunt. A group of men were identified on a series of hunting trips in 2023 in the South Hills, just north of the Nevada border in southern Twin Falls County.
The Rock Creek fire department made quick work of an apartment fire yesterday morning. Just before 6 fire and rescue workers arrived on scene at 7th and Boyd Street in Murtaugh where smoke was coming from a building. Damage was contained to the attic area. Several families were displaced but there were no injuries reported.
The Idaho public utilities commission will be conducting a public hearing in Twin Falls to discuss Idaho Power’s proposal to rase bills by about $7.48 a month. The hearing will be December 2nd at 4 at the American Legion Hall in Twin Falls.
The defense team for the man accused of murdering four University of Idaho students in 2022 said yesterday that his trial should not permit the death penalty as punishment, arguing that the state has “no real means” of executing an inmate and the methods are unconstitutional. The death penalty hearing in Boise on whether suspect Bryan Kohberger can be executed if he is convicted, came two years since the quadruple homicide in Moscow.
A local grocery store manager stopped a Bitcoin scam in progress, preventing a victim from losing hundreds of dollars. The Nampa Police said the Nampa Albertsons manager saw a customer putting a stack of cash into the Bitcoin machine while talking on his phone. The victim said he was on the phone with the Canyon County Sheriff’s Department and was being instructed to send the money via cryptocurrency to pay a federal bond for an outstanding warrant. The man filed a police report afterward and detectives and his bank are working to get the money he did lose back.
Now through May 2025, the BLM will conduct a series of prescribed burns across southern Idaho. These prescribed burns improve firefighter and public safety by reducing wildfire risks.
SPORTS
Boise State, on a six-game winning streak and making an appearance in the inaugural CFP national rankings this past Tuesday, return to Albertsons Stadium on Saturday for a 6 p.m. MT kickoff against Nevada on FOX. A win would Register Boise State’s 119th win while playing as a ranked team in the AP Top 25 poll and Allow Boise State to have a 8-1 start to the season, the best since 2019.
The 12th-ranked College of Southern Idaho ran past the CSI Legends 102-83 Thursday in the Battle for the Boot sponsored by Title One and Rocky Mountain Agronomics. The Golden Eagles out-rebounded the Legends 71-42 but the Legends outscored CSI in the second half 44-40. CSI will take on #23 Eastern Florida tonight at 7 p.m. Other matchups will be CSI Legends vs. Western Wyoming at 1 p.m., Casper vs. North Idaho at 3 p.m. and South Plains vs. Monroe at 5 p.m.
In college volleyball, Following the Treasure State sweep of the Montanas, the Idaho State Bengals find themselves atop the Big Sky standings in what has been a historic season thus far. But the season is not quite finished yet. The Bengals are off to Ogden for the rivalry rematch that has been one-sided in the past few years to say the least. The girls look to build off their strong momentum though after beating the Wildcats at Reed Gym for the first time since 2017.
