FEDERAL DISASTER ASSISTANCE

President Donald Trump has approved federal disaster assistance for Idaho following the severe storms that hit the state in March. FEMA funding will help communities in six northern Idaho counties recover from flooding, landslides, damaging winds, and other storm damage, covering emergency response and repairs to public infrastructure.

TWIN FALLS E-BIKE WARNING

Twin Falls Police are reminding riders that e-bikes and e-motos follow different laws. High-powered e-motos require registration, insurance, and a licensed rider. The reminder comes after two juvenile crashes in Twin Falls and a serious e-bike crash under investigation in Boise.

BOISE E-BIKE CRASH

Boise Police are investigating a serious crash involving an e-bike and a motorcycle. The collision happened Wednesday night near Phillippi Street and Morris Hill Road. One or more people suffered serious injuries.

CAR IN GRAVITY CANAL

A car ended up in the Gravity Canal Wednesday evening in Cassia County. The occupants safely swam to shore before first responders arrived, and no injuries were reported. A dive team and local tow company later recovered the submerged vehicle without incident.

HIGHWAY 95 VAN CRASH

Twelve people were injured in a two-van crash Wednesday on Highway 95 near Elmira. Idaho State Police say one van carrying children on a summer camp field trip was struck by an Amazon delivery van. Everyone was hospitalized, including one person flown by air ambulance.

PAYETTE COUNTY MURDER INDICTMENT

A Payette County woman has been indicted on two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her 18-month-old twins in May 2025. Prosecutors allege Andrea Shaw killed the children by suffocation. She’s being held on a $2 million bond, with her next court appearance set for July 14.

ROARING SPRINGS SENTENCING

A Boise man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually assaulting girls at Roaring Springs Waterpark last summer. Forty-year-old Bo Gene Crisp pleaded guilty to sexual battery of a minor. He’ll be eligible for parole after serving three years and must register as a sex offender for life.

AIELLO LEAVES CSI

College of Southern Idaho baseball is saying goodbye to a familiar face. After 15 seasons as the Golden Eagles’ pitching coach and recruiting coordinator, Nick Aiello has been named the new head baseball coach at the College of Southern Nevada. Aiello, a former CSI player, says he’ll take the same student-first philosophy he learned under legendary coach Skip Walker to Las Vegas. CSI now begins the search for its next assistant coach as Aiello starts a new chapter leading the Coyotes.

CSI BASEBALL TRANSFERS

More College of Southern Idaho baseball players are moving on to four-year programs. Record-setting slugger Trey Purser is transferring to Colorado Mesa after blasting 21 home runs and driving in 78 runs last season. Pitcher Jackson Gardner is headed to Utah Tech after posting a 1.91 ERA, while Will Grizzle will continue his career at the University of San Francisco. The Golden Eagles continue sending talent to programs across the country.

⚾ American Legion Baseball

COWBOY CLASSIC UNDERWAY

The Cowboy Classic is underway at Bill Ingram Field in Twin Falls, bringing together American Legion baseball teams from Nevada, Utah, Alberta, Canada, and the hometown Twin Falls AA Cowboys. Each team will play four round-robin games, with the top two advancing to Saturday’s championship at 5 p.m. The Cowboys open the tournament against the Reno Athletics before continuing a busy Fourth of July weekend of baseball.

CSI WOMEN MOVING ON

The College of Southern Idaho women’s basketball team is sending more talent to the next level. Calyn Wood will join Savannah Stoker and Maci Hess at Utah Tech, while Lea Nadolny is headed to the University of Louisiana Monroe. Chloe Jensen will continue her career at East Central University in Oklahoma, and Naomi Senato is transferring to the University of Indianapolis. New head coach Brenden Wheeler now begins reloading a Golden Eagles team that finished 29-and-5 and reached the NJCAA Elite Eight.
