🚨 WASTEWATER LAWSUIT
The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality is suing the city of Burley, alleging millions of gallons of untreated wastewater were discharged into the Snake River. City officials say they are actively working to correct the problem.

🚔 SHOTS FIRED – ADA COUNTY
Shots ring out early yesterday morning during an overnight investigation in Ada County, forcing deputies and forensic staff to take cover. No injuries are reported. Two suspects, including 18-year-old Abel Olmos, are arrested and now face multiple charges.

🏛️ KEMPTHORNE HONORED
Former Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne will lie in state Friday at the Idaho Capitol, followed by a public funeral Saturday at the Cathedral of the Rockies. Flags across the state remain at half-staff.

⚖️ MISTRIAL IN TWIN FALLS
A mistrial is declared in Twin Falls for taxidermist Tom Schiermeier, accused in a poaching case. The judge halts proceedings over concerns about a fair trial. A new court date is now set for May 15.

💧 IRRIGATION INNOVATION
A new tool from Idaho National Laboratory is helping modernize irrigation systems across the West. IrrigationViz allows users to explore ways to conserve water and even generate energy, a key development as demand rises and infrastructure ages.

🏫 SCHOOL FUNDING REQUESTS
School districts across Idaho are requesting more than $183 million this May. In Minidoka, a $7.7 million levy would fund operations, safety, and activities, costing about $122 per $100,000. In Richfield, a $360,000 levy supports staff and programs at about $129 per $100,000.

🎤 WESTERN IDAHO FAIR
The Western Idaho Fair is already building buzz—country artist Brantley Gilbert has been announced as the first Grandstand Concert act for 2026. He performs August 24th at Expo Idaho, with more artists expected soon.

Idaho State Police are investigating a deadly crash in Malad City. A 41-year-old woman dies after her Polaris RZR leaves the roadway and strikes a tree late Saturday night.

DISTRICT BASEBALL RESULTS
District tournament baseball over the weekend—Declo rolls past Lighthouse Christian 15 to 5, Malad beats Wendell 12 to 2, then Wendell rebounds edging Declo 13 to 12. Buhl slips past Filer 5 to 4, and Twin Falls handles Burley 7 to 1. Saturday, Malad stays hot, shutting out Wendell 11 to nothing.

🥎 SOFTBALL RESULTS & MATCHUPS
On the softball side, Glenns Ferry dominates Horseshoe Bend 16 to 0, Buhl beats Filer 15 to 4, and Kimberly shuts out Gooding 11 to nothing. Today, Jerome, 12 and 12, heads to Twin Falls to face the 12 and 11 Bruins. Minico travels to Burley, Wilder visits Glenns Ferry, and Declo faces a red-hot Wendell squad at 18 and 4.

🔥 CSI SOFTBALL STREAK
The 21st-ranked College of Southern Idaho softball team sweeps USU Eastern 13 to 3 and 9 to 2. Adi Hansen, Rilyne Keck, and Kyli Carrell lead offensively, while Emerson Fuller throws a complete game in game two. CSI now 34 and 11, closing the regular season hosting North Idaho College.

CSI BASEBALL ADVANCES
CSI baseball advances to the Region 18 Championship series after a 6 to 3 win over Colorado Northwestern. Sawyer Slade delivers a go-ahead homer, Degan Rigby controls the mound, and Kaleb Doty closes it out. CSI now 43 and 12, hosting Salt Lake in a best-of-three starting Thursday.

💥 BOISE STATE SOFTBALL
Boise State softball closes the season strong with an 11 to nothing run-rule win over San Jose State, blasting five home runs. The Broncos finish 25 and 30 and prepare for a move to the Pac-12 in 2027.

🏃 IDAHO TRACK & FIELD
Idaho track and field posts strong marks—Hanna Tait hits a season-best long jump of 6.08 meters and a personal best in hurdles, while teammates add top conference performances. The Vandals wrap the regular season Wednesday at Whitworth.

🏈 VANDALS SPRING GAME
Idaho football wraps spring camp at the Kibbie Dome. Joshua Wood throws an early touchdown, Hayden Kincheloe scores on the ground, and Team Black controls the game. Now attention turns to summer training.

🏁 MAGIC VALLEY SPEEDWAY
Fans pack Magic Valley Speedway for opening night, with strong turnout between 1,200 and 2,000 spectators. Promoter Adam Nelson calls it a perfect start to the season with ideal weather and high energy.

NFL ROOKIE GIVES BACK
Chicago Bears rookie Colston Loveland returns to Idaho to host a sold-out golf tournament benefiting Special Olympics Idaho. The event fills in 10 minutes, raising funds and providing health screenings for athletes.
