🌊 Flooding Closes Vehicle Access to Shoshone Falls Park

Vehicle access to Shoshone Falls Park is closed due to flooding on the roadway, but the park remains open by trail. Rising water from Dierkes Lake has overwhelmed drainage basins, forcing crews to use sandbags to protect the road. Visitors are asked to hike in via the Canyon Rim Trail.

A 44-year-old Pocatello man, Daniel Scott Fields, has been arrested on multiple child sex abuse charges involving five victims ages six to ten — including a child from Wendell. Police say the abuse occurred between 2024 and 2025. His bond is set at $1 million.

🏀 CSI Men’s Basketball Opens Season Friday

The College of Southern Idaho men’s basketball team tips off its season tomorrow night at 7 against Yavapai College. The Golden Eagles, ranked 17th in the preseason poll, are looking to make their first NJCAA tournament run since 2023. Coach Jeff Reinert says the team’s chemistry is strong, and they’re ready to chase something bigger this season.

The College of Southern Idaho women’s basketball team opens its season today at 5 against Northwest College. With five returners and key transfers — including Naomi Senato from defending national champ Northwest Florida State — the Golden Eagles have high hopes of returning to the national tournament. Coach Randy Rogers says this year’s depth and talent could make for something special.
