The District IV soccer tournaments wrapped up Saturday, and several Magic Valley teams are headed to Boise for the state tournaments!

  • 6A Boys: Canyon Ridge advanced with a 4โ€“1 shootout win over Highland โ€” just their second state appearance since moving up.
  • 5A: Both Twin Falls teams are in โ€” the boys after a 2โ€“1 comeback over Jerome, and the undefeated girls (17โ€“0โ€“1) enter as state favorites.
  • Wood River boys: Qualified with a 15โ€“1โ€“2 record and a District IV title.
  • 4A: Sun Valleyโ€™s girls edged Kimberly 3โ€“2 for the district crown โ€” both advance โ€” and the Sun Valley boys earned their berth after a 2โ€“1 win over Gooding.
  • 3A: Defending state champion Wendell boys return after a 16โ€“1โ€“2 season, aiming for back-to-back titles.

The CSI menโ€™s soccer team dominated on sophomore day, blanking Colorado Northwestern 5โ€“0. CSI improves to 8โ€“6โ€“1 and visits USU Eastern next week. The CSI women fell 2โ€“1 and also head to USU Eastern and Snow College.

๐Ÿ College Volleyball

The 17th-ranked CSI Volleyball Team fought hard but fell to No. 5 Salt Lake CC in straight sets. CSI is now 15โ€“8 and hosts USU Eastern and Snow College this week.

Boise State dominated the second half to crush UNLV 56โ€“31 on The Blue. The Broncos extended their home winning streak to 16 and face Nevada Friday night in Reno.

The Idaho Vandals came up short on the road, falling to Eastern Washington 21โ€“14. Idaho drops to 2โ€“5 and hosts Portland State next Saturday at 1 p.m.

Idaho State soccer fell 3โ€“0 to Northern Colorado Friday despite outshooting the Bears 22โ€“9. The Bengals drop to 2โ€“3โ€“1 in Big Sky play, facing Northern Arizona next Sunday.

๐Ÿ’” Farewell to Doug Martin

Former Boise State star and NFL running back Doug Martin has died at age 36. A first-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012, Martin was a two-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro selection. At Boise State, he rushed for over 3,400 yards and helped lead the Broncos to the 2009 Fiesta Bowl win over TCU.
