Gooding authorities are searching for a man in connection to a shooting that left a bullet in a victim’s back. A warrant has been issued for 32-year-old Felix Luis Alanz. Authorities say Alanz is considered armed and dangerous.
Kimberly residents are on high alert this morning after a bobcat or Mountain Lion was reportedly spotted roaming in the 400 Block of Jefferson Street. As the search continues, Fish and Game officials say if you spot the animal do not approach it.
Fire has destroyed a shop in Twin Falls. Fire crews were called Monday in the early morning hours to the 2800 block of 9th avenue east. When they arrived, they found heavy fire consuming the structure. One person inside escaped safely.
A woman who helped two men escape after they attacked correctional officers at a Boise hospital struck a plea deal with prosecutors for her crimes, with a key stipulation: She must testify against the men she helped. Tonia Huber, a 53-year-old woman from Filer was arrested alongside one of the men in Twin Falls after a 36-hour manhunt for the male suspects in March.
Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.7% in October, up from 3.6% in September. The state’s labor force increased by 3,738 people. The percentage of people 16 years of age or older who are either employed or looking for work increased from 63.2% to 63.3% between September and October. Total employment increased by 3,037.
Local communities are following a new federal rule that will require water utilities across the country to identify and replace millions of lead drinking water pipes. Across the country the cost will be in the billions. States, cities and water utilities agree that the lead pipes need to go to ensure safe water for residents. But they say they may struggle to do so in the 10-year window required under the rule, and they fear some ratepayers will be hit with massive cost increases to pay for the work.
This week the CSI Trustees approved a three-acre land swap in Jerome for a new $9.3 million, 20,000-square-foot satellite campus expected to open in 2026. Currently courses in Jerome are scattered across several buildings.

Boise State climbed to No. 12 in the latest edition of the College Football Playoff rankings. The Broncos were the fourth-highest ranked conference leader. They remain the highest-ranked Group of 5 team. The Broncos boast the nation’s third-best rushing offense and scoring offense while also ranking third in third down conversion percentage and fourth down percentage. They rank fourth in total offense and have seven turnovers. Boise State will travel to Wyoming for the final conference game of the regular season. The Broncos and Cowboys will kick off at 5 p.m. Saturday. The game will air nationally on CBS Sports Network.
It’s been a rough go for the Bengals in the last few weeks, but they look to rebound from their 3-game losing streak as they still remain top contenders in Big Sky volleyball. The Bengals will head on the road for their tomorrow night rematch against Sacramento State, looking for their first 2 game sweep of the Hornets since 2014. In a pivotal match that will shuffle the conference standings, this match figures to be a heavyweight bout, featuring two of the top teams in the Big Sky. This match is scheduled for tomorrow at 8:00 PM. Following this match, the Bengals will head North for their second rematch of the week. This game will feature the Portland State Vikings in yet another crucial face-off in regard to conference standings. The two teams are slated to play this Saturday at 8:00 PM.
The Idaho men’s basketball team delivered a 101-58 victory over Evergreen State last night. Idaho heads to San Diego, California to face off against Southern Utah Saturday and San Diego Sunday for two matchups at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
Checking local high school girls’ basketball, from yesterday, Filer downed Declo 41 to 29. Jerome defeated Kimberly 61 to 23. Mountain Home defeated Bishop Kelly 59 to 45. Murtaugh took the win over Rimrock 60 to 28. Oakley defeated Hagerman 61 to 17. Preston said no to Minico 43 to 33. Glenns Ferry outlasted Richfield 31 to 14. Raft River took the win over Rockland 40 to 32. Shoshone for the win over Hansen 43 to 32 and Wendell outlasted Gooding with a score of 67 to 44.
