A brush fire near Bliss burned 770 acres yesterday. The Independence fire started Tuesday afternoon. The Hagerman, Bliss and Gooding Fire departments kept the blaze from damaging nearby structures. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

A Tuesday Evening power outage that left thousands of Twin Falls residents in the dark is blamed for several of the city’s traffic signals not working properly. The city said that workers have to re-install programming software at each of the signal locations. Meanwhile the lights will continue to flash red which means those intersections should be considered a four way stop.

Officials arrested 26-year old Franklin Hernandez of Burley after police say he kicked a man in the chest hit a woman in the nose and threatened three people with a machete. The alleged incident happened Sunday.

Bail has been set at 500-thousand dollars for a man with ties to Blaine County. 41 year old Rudy Isla-Mejico has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide for a fatal crash in Wyoming. Court records indicate Isla-Mejico has two DUI conviction’s in Blaine County.

A Boise fire official says two apartments in a three-story building have been burned after fireworks ignited a second-floor balcony. Firefighters went to the blaze yesterday morning.

Officials reopened a popular hiking area late yesterday morning in northern Idaho where a black bear with a cub attacked a 60-year-old woman and her two dogs. U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman Shoshana Cooper says experts determined the Tuesday morning attack to be defensive and not predatory.

FBI agents seized bomb-making materials, seven guns and ammunition from the Montana home of a man they suspect of carrying out bank robberies in five states. Authorities believe Richard Gathercole held up at least six banks since 2012 in California, Washington, Idaho, Nebraska and Iowa.

An Idaho teen was placed on probation after a Facebook altercation ended in gunshots fired and an aggravated assault conviction. 18-year-old Colton M. Mayberry, who was convicted of aggravated assault, was placed on supervised probation Monday for two years.

Roy Rogers, singer and cowboy actor died of congestive heart failure in Apple Valley, California. One of the most heavily marketed and merchandised stars of his era, as well as being the namesake of the Roy Rogers Restaurants franchised chain. He and his wife Dale Evans, his golden palomino, Trigger, and his German Shepherd dog, Bullet, were featured in more than 100 movies and The Roy Rogers Show. The show ran on radio for nine years before moving to television from 1951 through 1957.

The Dixie Chicks performed a concert at Dallas' American Airlines Center despite an anonymous threat that group member Natalie Maines would be shot on stage, (after the controversy regading her comments about President George W. Bush, and the Iraq war). Maines had a police escort to and from the show and then directly to the airport.

Waylon Jennings was inducted to Hollywood's Rock Wall in Hollywood, California. Between 1966 and 1995, 54 Jennings albums charted, with 11 reaching #1. Jennings was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001.

Rodney Atkins and wife Rose Falcon shared some fireworks of their own on July 4 by announcing that they are expecting their first child together.

Rodney and Rose, who were married in November 2013, made the announcement via Instagram by stating: “Happy Fourth of July! We are thrilled to announce our family is growing. Baby Atkins will arrive in December and we know @eatki is going to be the best big brother.

Blake Shelton Scores 24th No. 1 Single With “Every Time I Hear That Song”

Chris Stapleton’s From a Room: Volume 1 Rebounds as Top Country Album

Like Alexander the Great, Blake Shelton and Chris Stapleton must occasionally sit and weep that they have no new worlds to conquer.

This week, Shelton’s “Every Time I Hear That Song” becomes his 24th No. 1 single on Billboard‘s country airplay chart. (That’s two dozen, honey.) And Stapleton’s newest album, From a Room: Volume 1, returns to the top spot on the country albums chart, where it debuted eight weeks ago.

More remarkable still, Stapleton’s Traveller is still in the Top 5 — 113 weeks after its release. Combined, Stapleton’s two albums have sold nearly 2.5 million copies.

Well, that’s the good news. The bad news is that not one new album breaks into the Top 50 this week.

And there are just three new songs to note.

However, we do have seven albums making a comeback.

They are Billy Currington’s Summer Forever (returning at No. 36), Midland’s self-titled EP (No. 42), Toby Keith’s 35 Biggest Hits (No. 44). NASCAR Drivers to Race Around “Brantley Gilbert” on July 23

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be home to the Brantley Gilbert Big Machine Brickyard 400 on July 23.

Big Machine Label Group, which is the label home of Brantley as well as artists like Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw and Thomas Rhett, is the new title sponsor of the Brickyard 400. In support of the event that bears his moniker, Brantley will attend the race on July 23 and perform during a pre-race concert.

“Racing has always been part of Big Machine’s DNA, and we’re thrilled to partner with the world’s most iconic racing brands,” said Big Machine Label Group president/CEO Scott Borchetta.

In addition, the Brantley Gilbert Big Machine Brickyard 400 will mark the final race for Dale Earnhardt Jr. at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Dale Jr. announced his retirement following the conclusion of the 2017 NASCAR season earlier this year.

Garth Brooks Serenade 89-Year-Old Fan With “If Tomorrow Never Comes”

There was another impromptu fan moment at a Garth Brooks concert over the weekend.

On July 1 at the Cajundome in Lafayette, La., Garth noticed 89-year-old fan, Miss Laura, holding a sign that read “Elvis Was My Last Concert”—and she wasn’t referring to Elvis Costello. The last concert Miss Laura attended was in New Orleans to see Elvis Presley, who has been dead for almost 40 years.

After a brief chat with Miss Laura, Garth serenaded her with “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” his first No. 1 hit. Garth ended the ditty by presenting his guitar to Miss Laura.

Last month, Garth gave one of his guitars to a concertgoer named Jeremy, who was holding a sign that read “3 concerts down, two more to go!!! Waited 24 years to meet you!! You are the reason I play guitar.”

Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines Files for Divorce From Husband Adrian Pasdar

Dixie Chicks front-woman Natalie Maines has filed for divorce from husband Adrian Pasdar, according to TMZ.

Natalie and Adrian, who met in 1999 at Emily Strayer and Charlie Robison’s wedding, have been married for 17 years and have two sons together, ages 16 and 12. Adrian is an actor and voice artist whose credits include roles in Heroes and The Lying Game.

Natalie’s rep told TMZ that the divorce is a private matter and they will not comment.

The people behind Spiderman: Homecoming are expecting BIG numbers at the box office. Industry tracking says that the newest installment of the Spiderman franchise could gross anywhere from $85 million to $110 million during its opening weekend. The studio is hedging its bets lower, at around $80 million. The movie is opening this weekend in 4,341 North American locations, 392 of which will screen in Imax. Previews will kick off at 3,450 theaters tonight as well. Reviews for “Homecoming” have been strong — it currently holds a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie has also consistently dominated social media in recent weeks, due in good part by consistent and well-received marketing.

And now, we state the obvious. Streaming music is HUGE, and growing rapidly every day. A report published yesterday by Nielsen Music shows that music streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal and others delivered a total of 184.3 billion on-demand audio streams, up from 113.5 billion during the same period a year ago, for an increase of 62 percent. Those same streaming services surpassed a milestone in March, when over 7 billion songs were accessed across the platforms. But music streaming's success came at a cost: total album sales - including purchased downloads and physical albums - declined by 18 percent, which was in part due to a 24 percent drop in digital track sales and a 20 percent drop in digital album sales. I don't know about you, but I'm still a fan of going out to the store and buying the CD the day it comes out.

And Kathy Griffin made every headline on every news outlet for a few days - but then she seemed to just kind of go away... but her name certainly hasn't vanished from the eyes of the feds. The comedian “has been interviewed by the Secret Service, in-person, for over an hour... and the investigation still not closed. Griffin has not held back on insulting Trump despite the ongoing controversy surrounding her art piece. She's still taking to social media to blast the prez any chance she gets.

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management battled a growing fire near Bliss yesterday. The Independence Fire was reported at 2:13 p.m. at 1274 Highway 26 between Bliss and Gooding.

The boil advisory has been lifted for the City of Hansen. A Saturday night power outage caused more than 100 residents to be without electricity for several hours. As a precaution and since the backflow preventer was without power, a boil advisory was instilled.

Saying that the move could mean an increase in illegal immigration prosecution by the federal government, opponents of a proposal for Jerome County to lease beds at its jail to Immigration and Customs Enforcement came out in force Monday. The contract between ICE and Jerome County hasn’t been finalized, but the plans tentatively call for the county to lease 50 beds at $75 a day per bed.

The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office is trying to identify a decomposed body that was found in a home in Ammon, Idaho. The body was found Sunday. Officials are treating the death as a homicide investigation.

A drone flying illegally created a problem for crews fighting a wildfire near Nat-Soo-Pah. The BLM will contact the pilot again this week who could face a fine of up to $500.

Idaho officials are considering altering rules for suction dredge mining on the South Fork of the Clearwater River just before the month-long season. State regulators were asked to clarify or simplify permits for the river.

The police chief in Alaska's capital city is leaving after four years to lead a police force in Idaho. Bryce Johnson was appointed chief in Idaho Falls. He said he took the job to be closer to family.

Earlier this year the Idaho Judicial Council's disciplinary process gained more attention after confirming it had received a verified complaint against Fifth District Judge Randy Stoker. The complaint was filed following his decision to sentence a teen to probation for sexually assaulting a high school football teammate. Some believe a sentence for John R.K. Howard was too lenient. The council has not yet made a decision regarding the complaint.

Johnny Cash made his last ever live performance when he appeared at the Carter Ranch. Before singing "Ring of Fire", Cash read a statement about his late wife that he had written shortly before taking the stage: “The spirit of June Carter overshadows me tonight with the love she had for me and the love I have for her. We connect somewhere between here and heaven. She came down for a short visit, I guess, from heaven to visit with me tonight to give me courage and inspiration like she always has.” Cash died on Sept 12th of this year.

Mickey Gilley was seriously injured in a fall in Branson, Missouri. The 73 year-old was helping a neighbor move some furniture when he fell, with the 'love seat' falling on top of him, crushing four vertebrae. The incident left him temporarily paralyzed from the neck down . After intense physical therapy he was able to walk again and returned to the stage a year later. However, he still lacks the hand coordination necessary to play the piano.

Austin and Nashville are once again living up to their reputations as country music capitals on July 4 with Willie Nelson continuing a Texas tradition and Chris Young and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band headlining a free concert in Tennessee. Bad news for Ed Sheeran's 19.2 million Twitter followers. In an interview with The Sun published Monday, the

singer-songwriter said he's no longer active on the social media platform. "I've actually come off Twitter completely.

I can't read it. I go on it and there's nothing but people saying mean things. One comment ruins your day,"

the 26-year-old revealed. "The (hard part) for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much."

A lot of the recent hate towards Sheeran has come from Lady Gaga fans. Gaga's fans have been trolling Sheeran since

earlier this year. After his Beats Radio 1 interview with Zane Lowe, some of her fans assumed he threw shade in her

direction. "I do not want to be the kind of artist who has had two successful albums and then feels invincible.

I have to know when to listen to people, or I'll end up like those artists you've interviewed in recent years.

You've seen them become the biggest artists in the world, and then suddenly they will say, 'I know everything!'

And just after, they are no longer at the top," Sheeran said at the time, without naming names. "The smartest thing

to do is listen to people who know I do not want to do the Super Bowl years later, after my biggest success, just to

prove I'm still relevant." In true Gaga fashion, she came to his defense the day after the interview published.

On Instagram, she said "What an incredible talented artist I LOVE ED @edsheeran deserves all our love and respect

like all humans do," she wrote on Instagram. "I wish all people on the internet would be positive and loving and

apart of creating an online community that is kind and empowering, not hateful and mean. No reason to tear down an artist simply because they are on top. Work harder to be kinder everybody. That should be your first duty to humanity."

Some call it art... some call it expression... some call it filth - but MOST celebrities who decide to take their clothes

off for the world to see don't wait as long as Celine Dion has. A photo was posted on Vogue magazine's Instagram page on the Fourth of July, which shows the 49-year-old singer sitting on a plush chair with her arms folded and legs crossed, wearing nothing and clutching a white garment, during a trip to Paris. Naked photos of Dion have never been released before. She did, however, pose topless for V magazine in 2012, wearing a pair of long black gloves while folding her arms over her chest.

John Blackwell Jr., who performed with Prince as his drummer for 15 years, died yesterday. He was 43. Blackwell was considered a master drummer and was known for his unique style of drumming. It was discovered last year that Blackwell had two brain tumors that eventually led to his passing. His wife posted the announcement on his Instagram account, "My husband incredible drummer John Blackwell Jr. passed the way peacefully in my company today. Thanks God for his life and thanks everyone for their support." A GoFundMe page was set up to help cover his medical bills that reached more than $78,000 in donations as of last night.

The military judge overseeing Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl's case says prosecutors can try the soldier on a rare charge alleging he endangered comrades by walking off his post in Afghanistan in 2009. The Judge also said serious wounds to a soldier and a Navy Seal who searched for Bergdahl can be used at the sentencing phase of his upcoming trial.

At least three different legal challenges are being launched against the U.S. government's decision to lift protections for grizzly bears in the Yellowstone National Park area that have been in place for more than 40 years. The groups intend to sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service over the plan to lift the protections this summer.

Add another group to the growing list of Idahoans saying they haven’t been consulted on state plans to comply with a major federal education law. This time, state lawmakers say they’ve been left in the dark. And when they were consulted and briefed on Idaho’s Every Student Succeeds Act plan, those same lawmakers peppered schools chief Sherri Ybarra and her deputies with questions.

In a decision that could have an implication for Idaho schools, the Supreme Court has sided with a Missouri church that sought a share of state funding. In a 7 to 2 ruling, the court said the church could tap into a state fund for playground improvements.

The Idaho Secretary of State office is reviewing a request for key points of voter data from President Donald Trump's commission investigating alleged voter fraud in the 2016 election. State Election Director Betsie Kimbrough said Friday that Secretary of State Lawerence Denney received the request from the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity earlier this week.

Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest Supervisor Cheryl Probert has approved a redesigned logging plan for the Johnson Bar Salvage Sale that will see fewer trees cut and more assurances that scenic views and water quality are protected. The Lewiston Tribune reported Thursday the sale was first approved last year but was halted by a federal judge who granted a temporary injunction requested by the Friends of the Clearwater and Idaho Rivers United.

On July 3, 2017, at approximately 12:07 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a single-vehicle injury crash eastbound on 2277 E 3300 S, in Gooding County.

A juvenile male was driving a 2002 Chevy Silverado and failed to negotiate a turn near 2277 E 3300 S, ran off of the road, over-corrected, and rolled. The vehicle came to rest in the center of the roadway. The male was wearing a seatbelt.

He was transported by air to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, ID.

The lanes were blocked for approximately three hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

Idaho State Police was assisted by Gooding County Sheriff's Office and Wendell Police Department.

On Sunday, July 2, 2017, at approximately 8:44 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury crash northbound on US93, near milepost 10, in Twin Falls County.

Cody M. Chandler, 34, of Filer, ID, was driving northbound on US93 in a 1994 Honda Accord. Cameron J. Kelly, 36, of Lincoln, CA, was driving northbound on US93 in a 2014 Toyota Sequoia. Amanda S. Allen, 42, of Kimberly, ID, was driving northbound behind Kelly in a 1998 Honda Civic. Kelly attempted to pass Chandler using the first, inner southbound lane. Allen attempted to pass Kelly and Chandler using the second, outer southbound lane. Kelly struck Allen's vehicle, which then rolled onto the shoulder.

Allen was not wearing a seatbelt. Kelly and Chandler were both wearing seatbelts.

Allen was transported by ground ambulance to St Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls, ID.

The lanes were blocked for approximately one hour and forty-five minutes while crews worked to clear the scene.

Willie Nelson Hosts His 44th Fourth of July Picnic in Texas Austin and Nashville are once again living up to their reputations as country music capitals on July 4 with Willie Nelson continuing a Texas tradition and Chris Young and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band headlining a free concert in Tennessee. The 44th edition of Nelson’s Fourth of July Picnic will take place at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas’ Austin360 Amphitheater with a lineup that includes Sheryl Crow, Kacey Musgraves, Jamey Johnson, Steve Earle, Margo Price, Asleep at the Wheel, Turnpike Troubadours, Hayes Carll, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Johnny Bush, Billy Joe Shaver, David Allan Coe, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Insects vs. Robots, the Raelyn Nelson Band and Folk Uke. As of Sunday (July 2), tickets remained available via Ticketmaster. While it can’t claim the history of Nelson’s event, the annual concert in downtown Nashville has become a tradition. In fact, organizers are predicting a crowd as large as 280,000 for “Let Freedom Sing! July 4 in Music City,” the free concert on Broadway near Riverfront Park. Young, a native of nearby Murfreesboro, Tennessee, will headline the show featuring the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, R&B artist Jonny P and folk-rock duo the Sisterhood, featuring Alyssa Bonagura and Ruby Stewart, daughter of rock icon Rod Stewart. If you’re planning to celebrate the holiday at home, there are other country music options available. Lady Antebellum, Brad Paisley and Sheryl Crow will perform on Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular airing on NBC. The lineup also includes Jennifer Lopez, Charlie Puth and Hailee Steinfeld.

Kellie Pickler and Trace Adkins will be in Washington, D.C., for the A Capitol Fourth concert on PBS. John Stamos will host the show from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol with performances by the Beach Boys, Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi of the Blues Brothers, the Four Tops and Yolanda Adams.

Needless to say, fireworks displays will cap all of the celebrations. But as a bit of trivia, this is the 44th edition of Willie Nelson’s Fourth of July Picnic and only the 37th annual edition of A Capitol Fourth. God bless America and Willie Nelson.

Luke Bryan Brings Home the Chocolate

New Puppy Joins the Family

On Saturday morning (July 1), Luke Bryan introduced his nearly 4 million Instagram followers to the latest addition to his family — their brand new chocolate Labrador retriever, who looks like he’s about 3 months old. He followed the first picture of Choc up with another one: a full body shot. One where you can see how Choc is all floppy ears and giant paws and puppy dog eyes. And then that was it for the photo gallery. Which might just mean that Bryan and his family — his wife, his two sons and his nephew — are too busy playing with the new guy to be bothered to take any pictures.

Bryan has a couple of weeks off before his tour resumes in Bethel, New York, on July 13, so he’ll have plenty of time to bond with Choc.

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood Perform for NASA Astronauts in Space

Mission Control in Houston Hosts Special Meet-and-Greet

It was a meet-and-greet that was out of this world.

On Thursday (June 29), Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood performed for astronauts Jack Fischer and Dr. Peggy Whitson who were onboard the International Space Station. Brooks and Yearwood spoke via video conference from NASA’s Mission Control in Houston for a special edition of his Facebook Live series, Inside Studio G.

Fischer is on his first flight mission, and Whitson recently set a new record for most cumulative days spent in orbit.

Over the course of their 15-minute conversation, Fischer revealed “The River” was his favorite song, telling Brooks, “You have so many great songs and so many great messages, but it’s the heart that you put into every performance and the soul you put into all those songs that makes them so impactful.”

It was the first song on the pre-launch playlist he heard in the moments leading up his departure from Kazakhstan on April 20.

Brooks performed the song for Fischer with Yearwood on harmony vocals. Then Yearwood surprised Fischer with an opportunity to speak with his wife and daughter, who were also there for the visit. Before they wrapped, Yearwood offered the astronauts home-cooked versions of their favorite foods when they return to Earth.

Some of country music’s biggest stars shared their favorite memories from the Fourth of July. And wouldn’t you know it, most of ’em involve fireworks.

“Some of my favorite Fourth of July memories were spent on Lake Blackshear down in Georgia with my family. I was always kind of in charge of driving home from Tennessee and picking up all the fireworks and my nieces and nephews always got excited when I rolled in because they knew I had all the fireworks. But, it was always a great memory, and I miss not getting to do that as much as we used to.”

Sam Hunt
“I’m from Georgia, and most [fireworks] were illegal, I’m pretty sure, growing up. But over in Alabama, that’s where all the firework stands were, and we only had to drive 10, 15 minutes to get to the Alabama line, so we could go get a bundle of fireworks pretty easy. But [my granddad] would always take a lot of pride in going and finding all the good stuff and coming back with a big pile. He’d have his torch out there at the end of the driveway and we’d all eat homemade ice cream and put down towels on the driveway and he’d shoot off fireworks for 30, 45 minutes. Such a good time.”

Eric Church
“The Fourth of July for me, growing up we would always go to the lake, we didn’t live on the lake but we would all go to the lake. Had a buddy who had a pontoon and we would always get on the pontoon and you go out and you’d tie all the pontoons together and just have a big time. This was before, I was younger then, the adults were having more fun than we were, you know it was just to go swim in the water and shoot off fireworks. Basically, water tailgating is what it was. And then as we got older, same thing . . . we would just, us younger kids had our own boat and we had as much fun as the adults.”

Darius Rucker
“Oh, I love fireworks. We had the bottle-rocket fights and all that good stuff. I was the typical little crazy kid, you know. In South Carolina, it was always legal, so we shot fireworks when it was legal. We did all that sort of stuff. I almost blew my hand off once.”

“My best memories would be hanging out with my mom, brother and sister on the beach on Tybee Island right off the coast of Savannah, Georgia. We’d go there every year and we’d light our own fireworks and watch the ones that they had for us. They were the best times, some of the best times of my life.”

Canaan Smith
“Williamsburg, Virginia, has a great fireworks display. It’s one of the best in the nation . . . We’d go to the Governor’s Palace. They have a big lawn, and we’d sit out there and lay a blanket down. This was before I was old enough to drink, but we probably tried to sneak some in anyhow. And we’d just watch the [show], you know they’d have the grand finale, which always blew my mind ’cause just when you thought it was over, they’d start bringing out all of the tricks and it just gets crazy. We did that on a regular basis. Other times, we’d do stuff in our own yard. We had a big yard when we were growing up with a dirt track in the back, and our neighbor’s yard was equally as big, so when you put ’em together, we had a massive area to be destructive and do whatever we wanted. So, we blew up all kinds of stuff.”

“Fourth of July, I remember growing up and having cookouts, and of course we did the whole fireworks thing. I remember my uncle, he’d always get fireworks and bring ’em down like from Alabama, because in Florida, you couldn’t get the bottle rockets and stuff, so he’d always go up to Alabama, ’cause they live in Tallahassee, which was close to the [state] line. So, he would go over the line and get the good fireworks and bring ’em down to my grandma’s for me and my cousin, and we’d just hang out all day and shoot off fireworks and clown around.”

“For many, many years in a row, we would be up at the lake for Fourth of July, and having those memories of being on the boat and going tubing and skiing and enjoying being out in the summertime, great weather on the water. So, I got proposed to on July 2 up at the lake, the same lake I grew up going to, and so that’s probably the biggest highlight of Fourth of July to me—getting a rock on my hand.”

No surprise here – Despicable Me 3 crushed it at the box office over the weekend, debuting in 1st place with about 75 and a half million dollars. Baby Driver debuted in 2nd with around 21 million. Transformers fell from the number one spot to land in 3rd this weekend with 17 million. In 4th was Wonder Woman with 16 millilon, and rounding out the top 5 was Cars 3 with nine and a half million. One thing that DID surprise me, though, was that The House starring Will Ferrell and Amy Pohler COMPL ETELY tanked, debuting in SIXTH with just 9 million dollars.

The dominoes have begun to fall in the court battles with organizers of the failed Fyre Festival. One of the organizers has been arrested and charged with wire fraud. Billy McFarland was arrested Friday in New York and accused of making “false representations to investors” in his company, Fyre Media LLC, and in a “luxury” music festival that had been set to take place in the Bahamas over two weekends in April and May. Acting Manhattan U.S. Attorney Joon Kim said in a statement Friday that McFarland allegedly presented fake documents to induce investors to put over a million dollars into his company. 25 year old McFarland appeared Saturday before a judge and was released from jail on a $300,000 bond. Wire fraud carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

Emmy-award winning actor James Cromwell is going to be spending a week in an Orange County Jail. The 77-year-old actor’s sentence is the result of his refusal to pay a $375 fine following his arrest during a protest in Wawayanda, New York. Cromwell and six others were found guilty of obstructing traffic during a sit-in at the proposed future site of a natural gas-fired power plant owned by Competitive Power Ventures. The protesters say they are concerned that the CPV power plant’s carbon emissions could immediately harm the local environment and will accelerate global climate change. Cromwell was one of three protesters who refused to pay the fine. “If we don’t stay together, nothing will change,” Cromwell told the Times-Herald Record after refusing to pay his fine (according to Variety). “Power to the people.”

Born on this day, was Michelle Branch, singer-songwriter, guitarist and actress. During the early 2000s, she released two top-selling albums, The Spirit Room and Hotel Paper, and in 2005, she formed the country music duo The Wreckers with friend and fellow musician Jessica Harp, and produced the Grammy-nominated single "Leave the Pieces". The Wreckers disbanded in 2007 to pursue their respective solo careers.

The Live 8 concerts were held around the world to battle poverty, which saw Tim McGraw and Faith Hill performing in Rome, and Toby Keith and Keith Urban in Philadelphia. Among other acts who took part: Paul McCartney, U2, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Dave Matthews, Sting and Brian Wilson. More than 1,000 musicians performed at the concerts, which were broadcast on 182 television networks and 2,000 radio networks.

When Luke Bryan Borrows Your Phone

Texting With a Fan's Friends at Concert. You know when you’re scrolling through someone else’s text messages — when you finally look up from the phone, an hour has gone by? Me neither. But that’s kind of what happened at a Luke Bryan show on Sunday night (June 25), when he borrowed a fan’s phone to look up lyrics to one of his new tunes.

When text messages started popping up on the screen, Bryan couldn’t resist. So he started reading Erin’s texts, then started reading them aloud to the crowd, then started responding to the texts on her behalf.

It was during Bryan’s song “Like You Say You Do.” It’s so new that he didn’t really have the lyrics memorized, so he asked Erin if he could borrow her phone to look up the words. That’s when the texts started rolling in.

“Do you want a drink?” one of Erin’s friends asked.

“Chill your broke ass out” was Bryan’s reply.

After the friend responded with a string of emojis, Bryan determined that all was well.

“He cool, we good,” he said, adding, “Hold on, let me get back to Safari. Can I go through your photos, too? No, I’m just playin’.”

Events In the Magic Valley

The Gooding Community Theater presents Peter Pan today, tomorrow and Saturday. Tickets are five bucks at the door with all proceeds going toward future performances. The shows begin at 7p each night and will be held at the Gooding High School.

The Freedom Fest Fourth of July celebration is this weekend in Jerome! Festivities will start at 2 p.m. Saturday at North Park. The celebration, presented by Community Spirit Committee, will feature music and live entertainment, children’s activities, vendors, food, and a beer garden. QUESTION OF THE DAY: I have a friend who called for advice on who to hire to fix his dishwasher yesterday (if anyone needs help on finding someone to fix something that's broken, they call me because they know I can NOT fix ANYTHING by myself and MUST know a guy who knows a guy)... so anyways, the story goes like this. His father-in-law was visiting and decided he'd clean their dishwasher while he was in town and bored, but while doing it - he found some sippy straws and what he thought was a marble in the dishwasher. So he threw it all away. He leaves the next day - and all of a sudden the dishwasher won't drain. He called a plumber friend of theirs over who took it apart enough to see that his father-in-law ACTUALLY threw away the ball that regulates the dishwasher draining... and it wasn't a marble at all. They've dubbed it "The $300 Marble" as that's what their plumber friend had guessed it would cost to fix. Everybody has a story like this. What's YOUR $300 marble? An R2-D2 droid that was used in several "Star Wars" films has sold at auction for nearly $3 million. The auction house Profiles in History said the 43-inch tall unit that was compiled from parts used throughout filming of the original trilogy sold for $2.76 million at an auction Wednesday. There was no information about who purchased the droid, which was the most expensive item offered in a movie memorabilia auction that included numerous props from the "Star Wars" franchise. Other items up for sale included Luke Skywalker's lightsaber from the first two films, which sold for $450,000 and Darth Vader's helmet from the original film sold for $96,000.

Does Niall Horan want more than just friendship from Katy Perry? Katy Perry put Niall Horan on blast during an interview earlier this week — but it was all out of love! She said “Niall’s amazing, I love him. I see him around all the time. He’s always trying to get my number to, like, maybe flirt with me? But I’m like, I could babysit you! I’m like your mom!” Now, Niall wants Katy to STOP BEING MEAN! In an interview after Katy's statements, he begged Katy to "Stop being mean to me!” He said “She’s just finding any excuse now just to patronize me and go around spreading rumors about me. I just want to be your friend!” It sounds like most of it's all in fun, but maybe he DOES want something more - as he wrapped up the conversation saying “She’s talking like she’s about 55 years older than me. She’s not that much older than me.” Oddly enough, my wife is a little more than 9 years older than I am – and we’ve made it for eleven years and counting!

Professional golfer Rickie Fowler made one military family very happy Wednesday at the Quicken Loans National. Playing a practice round, Fowler used a special caddie, SFC Bryane Greene, on the 18th hole. Greene had just returned to the States after three and a half years overseas, and Fowler helped give he and his family a special reunion. The two enjoyed a casual stroll down the 18th fairway. Fowler, not pleased with his second shot, jokingly made sure everyone knew he miss hit it, and it was not Greene's fault. It was about that point that Greene’s family spotted him , and rushed out onto the green to greet him with tears and hugs.

Wildfires continue to burn in Southern Idaho. The Indian Springs 2 fire is burning South of Kimberly. The 35-hundred acre Centennial Fire started 10 miles south of Hammett in Grass and Brush. A fire at the Vineyard Lake Recreation area west of Eden has burned several acres and the MM 271 fire near the Juniper Rest Area of Interstate 84 has reached nearly 4000 acres.

Police say 27 year old Genaro Ramirez of Heyburn has been charged with 2 counts of felony grand theft. He is accused of creating a fake customer account while working at Norco and writing refund checks to himself.

The city of Twin Falls is continuing work for roadway rehabilitation projects by installing gutters and curbside ramps. Today, workers will close southbound traffic at the intersection of Madrona Street and Falls Avenue. Later traffic will be down to one lane at the intersection of Capri Drive and Falls Avenue.

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game will continue to stock fish in its Magic Valley region. The department stocks 10- to 12-inch rainbow trout.

U.S. Rep. Mike Simpson will try to keep open an Idaho sheep experiment station despite President Donald Trump's proposed budget calling for its elimination. The Post-Register reports that Clark County economic development officials worry closure of the station could have a major negative impact on the economy.

A northern Idaho lawmaker says he's considering running for the state's open 1st Congressional District seat. Rep. Luke Malek, a Republican from Coeur d'Alene, told the Spokesman-Review on Tuesday that he's currently discussing running for Congress with close family and friends.

Idaho officials are currently working to restore a government website that was hacked with a message that claims to support the Islamic State terrorist group. A page on Idaho State Treasurer Ron Crane's website was hacked Sunday that included the message: "I love the Islamic state."

Work has begun to remove 5,700 cubic yards of radioactive waste from an eastern Idaho federal nuclear facility, officials said. The waste, known as calcine, was generated by spent fuel recycling at the Idaho Nuclear Technology and Engineering Center between 1963 and 2000.

Saturday (July 1) marks the 20-year anniversary of Sara Evans‘ debut album release, Three Chords and the Truth. And at a Change The Conversation event on Tuesday night (June 27) in Nashville, Evans talked about how different things were back in 1997, for her and for all the other women who were topping the country charts back then. “When I first got my record deal, women were dominating country radio. We had Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood, Lee Ann Womack, LeAnn Rimes, Shania Twain, Patty Loveless and on and on. I was fortunate enough to join that group of amazing women,” Evans told the crowd.

“So we need to change the conversation and figure out why it is not that way anymore.

“Why are there not enough women on country radio? Women artists are amazing and they have so much great music that we want to hear and we need to hear, so let’s change the conversation,” she added.

Evans’ new album Words will be released on July 21, and will feature music from 14 female songwriters like Ashley Monroe, Caitlyn Smith, Hillary Lindsey, Hillary Scott, Liz Hengber and Sonya Isaacs.

Garth Brooks cannot keep a secret.

First, during one of his recent Facebook Live chats, Brooks hinted that he might possibly be recording his Louisiana shows to turn those concerts into a live album.

“We’re gonna bring a surprise down there to you guys,” Brooks said. “So all I can tell you is: get your singing voices ready, because it could be for forever, if you’re catching my drift.

“I promise you, you will hear that weekend again and again and again. Long after the weekend is over.”

Sounds like a sure thing, right?

Then at his Cajundome show on Sunday (June 25), he made an announcement about the live album from the stage. And according to a report from the ABC news station in Lafayette, the officials from the venue confirmed that.

But while that all seems very legit, he didn’t reveal any other details of announce a release date.

Maybe it will come on the 20-year anniversary of his Double Live release. In 1998, Brooks released that two-disc compilation of live songs that he’d recorded throughout his 1996-1998 concerts. That’s the only live album Brooks has released in his nearly 30 years as a recording artist.

Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley and wife Cassie recently sold their Nashville home for $2.91 million in an off-market deal, according to ArchitecturalDigest.com.

Charles and Cassie bought the 6,218-square-foot house in 2012 for $1.6 million. A wildfire that has burned well over 18-hundred acres near the Idaho Utah border has forced officials to close a 50 mile stretch of I-84 between the 86 junction and the Utah Border. ITD said all traffic should detour to I-15 or to U.S. 93 south from Twin Falls.

The Severe weather that passed through the Magic Valley Monday evening caused the most damage in Gooding and Jerome Counties. Peak wind gusts were clocked at 54 miles per hour causing a barn to collapse near Jerome. Over 2500 Idaho Power Customers lost power.

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke says removing bureaucratic obstacles to development on federal land can create jobs and offer hope to nearby communities. Zinke spoke at the Western Governors' Association annual meeting in his hometown of Whitefish, Montana, and hinted of major changes in store.

An Oakley man was injured after he crashed his bicycle at the City of Rocks National Reserve on Monday evening. 61 year old Kenneth Hale was found bleeding from a head injury and lying at the side of Emery Canyon Road about a half mile from Birch Creek Road.

The Idaho Attorney General's Office says it's illegal for the general public to buy aerial fireworks, which require a special permit to use. The opinion that became public yesterday.

State education officials say the latest plan to close Idaho's student achievement gap needs tweaking after being told the goal was too ambitious and unrealistic. The Idaho Department of Education said they are revising the state's draft school accountability plan to make it more feasible for public schools to meet the newest benchmarks.

Firefighters are battling five lightning-sparked wildfires burning in grass and brush. The BLM says three of the fires are burning within 14 miles of Mountain Home and two more are within about 12 miles of Grandview.

Two Burley men are in stable condition at a Utah hospital after a Saturday crash southeast of Burley. 75 year old Jose Orozco-Tapia struck a feed wagon. He and his passenger 31 year old Adrian Mendoza Hernandez were flown to the University of Utah Hospital where they are in stable condition.

"What an Addictive Little Device It Is"

Good luck, Dierks Bentley.

He opened up on Instagram on Monday (June 26), telling his fans and followers that he was going phone-free.

And he asked for everyone’s well wishes.

His caption accompanied a photo of all the tools he will need to replace his smart phone: a typewriter, a recorder, a camera, a metronome, an actual notebook and Bob Hoover’s autobiography Forever Flying.

Bentley didn’t say if the break from his phone would mean a break from social media, but he hasn’t posted anything since so that may be the case.

“Amazing how much you can do with the iPhone but equally amazing what an addictive little device it is,” he wrote. “It sometimes feels like the never ending blitzkrieg of news, info, etc is sucking any intelligent thought out of my brain … and there isn’t too much in there to begin with.

“Thinking the typewriter might be a little over the top,” he joked at the end of his post.

He Taught Her Not to "Wish It Away"

When Martina McBride moved to Nashville to start her country career, she knew nobody. And she didn’t know a thing about the music business.

In a new interview with industry publication Country Aircheck, McBride talks about those early years, how she got her start and what lessons she learned.

And from Garth Brooks, what she learned about touring.

“Being a part of Garth’s organization and watching how he was with his fans and the energy he put out onstage,” McBride recalled, “it was family out there. That definitely made an impression on me as a young artist. Overall, it was just a great introduction to touring.”

She called herself “the most-green artist” during that era, when she was selling Brooks’ T-shirts and then later on opening shows for him.

During that time, Brooks told McBride something that she still remembers 25 years later.

“The advice that Garth gave me was to take time and soak it all in. Live in the moment. Don’t wish it away,” she said, “don’t want it to go faster. “Just really enjoy it and relish it.”

Rascal Flatts Surprise Wedding Couple With First Dance Performance of “God Bless the Broken Road”

The guys from Rascal Flatts crashed a couple’s wedding reception in Oshkosh, Wis., over the weekend (June 24) and treated the newlyweds to a surprise performance of “God Bless the Broken Road.”

The bride and groom, Sara and Brandon, are longtime fans of the trio and had selected “God Bless the Broken Road” as their first dance. Unbeknownst to the newlyweds, a family friend and the bride’s sister set the wheels in motion for the surprise performance from the trio, who happened to be headlining the Country USA Music Festival in Oshkosh that very day.

The Gooding Community Theater presents Peter Pan tomorrow, Friday and Saturday. Tickets are five bucks at the door with all proceeds going toward future performances. The shows begin at 7p each night and will be held at the Gooding High School.

QUESTION OF THE DAY: Question of the Day: To throw them or to save them. In a world where society is more politically divided than it's ever been, the state has again begun bursting into flames and Kim Kardashain just can't seem to catch a break on her parenting decisions, I'M taking on topics that REALLY matter. You know when you pull through the drive through, ask Taco Bell for a handful of hot sauce and they literally give you a HANDFUL, more than you'll ever be able to use on your meal? Or when you order Chinese to go and the bottom of your bag is LITTERED with what seems like gallons of soy and duck sauce? What do you do with the left overs? My wife and I have this debate every time the fridge starts filling up with my backstock of Jack In The Box sweet & sour. Do you save them? Because I mean, throwing them away is after all WASTEFUL - or do you SAVE them, letting those expiration date-free envelopes of saucy goodness pile up in the bottom refrigerator door? I can't seem to part with them. EVER. My wife can't throw them away fast enough and in fact will go so far as to remind me to NOT ask for a "handful" but be specific when ordering. "Only ask them for three or four because you'll NEVER use the literal handful they'll give you!" she says. One thing's for sure - expired or not, I'm NEVER without a packet of generic fancy catsup when in need. (Broc)

Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki's home was burned down during a massive bush fire that is still ravaging the California coast. Galecki was not on the property at the time of the Monday inferno, which destroyed his ranch as well as other buildings in San Luis Obispo, located roughly halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on California's Central Coast. Galecki, who plays Dr. Leonard Hofstadter in the hit CBS sitcom, said his "heart goes out to all in the area who are also experiencing loss from this vicious fire." The fast-moving fire began at around 3.30 p.m. local time on Monday and is currently only 60 percent contained, according to California's fire service. Nearly 1,600 acres have already been torched in the incident, and fire officials restricting access to places affected by the blaze.

Jimmy Fallon has topped Stephen Colbert in late-night ratings for the first time since Donald Trump has been president. The Nielsen company said that Fallon’s “Tonight” show averaged 2.66 million viewers last week, just SLIGHTLY more than the 2.62 million achieved by Colbert’s “Late Show.” Colbert, with his political humor, eclipsed long-time leader Fallon the week after Trump’s January inauguration and hasn’t looked back.

Michael Bond, the genial British author who created Paddington Bear, the polite, good-natured but disaster-prone little hero of children’s novels, picture and activity books, television series, and films, died at his home in London on Tuesday. He was 91. The death was announced by his publisher, Harper Collins, which said that Mr. Bond had died after a short illness. It did not specify a cause.
