This afternoon, Idaho Governor Brad Little will deliver the 2021 State of the Sate and Budget Address.  The general public will not be admitted into the Lincoln Auditorium in compliance with Stage 2 of the Idaho Rebounds Plan. 

Population estimates suggest the Boise metropolitan region will gain another legislative district at the expense of rural Idaho according to Keith Bybee, the deputy division manager of the Legislative Services.  A statewide redistricting effort slated to begin later this year will attempt to divide Idaho into 35 legislative districts with roughly equal populations.

The U.S. Department of the Interior has joined Idaho Governor Brad Little for a transfer of ownership on federal irrigation facilities to two Magic Valley irrigation districts.  A&B Irrigation District and the Minidoka Irrigation District will be transferred from federal to local ownership.  The transfers will decrease federal operating costs and liability.

Today is the first day for lawmakers to convene in Idaho for the year.  The 2021 session gets underway just four months after angry spectators shattered a glass door inside the Capitol to get into a special session where seating was limited.

Madison County Prosecuting Attorney Rob Wood will remain on the cases of Chad and Lori Vallow Daybell.  Judge Steven Boyce made the decision late Friday afternoon after a day and half of arguments whether Wood should remain on the case.

Fish and Game officers continue to investigate a poaching incident that occurred in November of last year.  A small bull elk was found five miles north of Bliss on Clover Creek road.  An officer said the elk was shot earlier in the day on November 25th.  They again were called to the area after a second elk was found north of Bliss two days later.  Call the fish and game if you can help solve the case.  A person of interest was wearing a red flannel shirt.


Andy Avalos is taking over as head coach at Boise State, returning to the school where he was a standout linebacker and defensive coordinator.  Avalos was announced Saturday as the replacement for Bryan Harsin who left Boise State to take the head coaching position at Auburn just before Christmas.

On the college hardwood over the weekend, Tevian Jones had 30 points as Southern Utah won its ninth straight game, defeating Idaho 83-67 on Saturday.

Abu Kigab had a season-high 25 points plus 11 rebounds as Boise State matched the programs longest win streak at 10 straight games, beating Air Force 80-69 on Friday night.

As far as High School Games, first for the boys from over the weekend, Hansen defeated Hagerman 50 to 21.  Valley outlasted Carey 89 to 48.  Preston said no to Twin Falls 64 to 56.  Gooding defeated Shoshone 66 to 33.  Minico said no way to Wood River 46 to 34.  It was Canyon Ridge 68 over Kimberly 61 in Overtime.  Rockland outlasted Murtaugh 51 to 47 and Oakley took the win over Grace 41 to 39.

For the girls it was Minico 68 over Wood River 45.  It was Pocatello 41 over Canyon  Ridge 24.  Burley defeated Filer 60 to 42.  American Falls took the win over Buhl 43 to 22.  Raft River said no way to Dietrich 63 to 51 and it was Murtaugh 55 over Glenns Ferry 29.
