Two Democratic lawmakers in Idaho filed a lawsuit yesterday in federal court against the Legislature and the Republican speaker of the House contending the Statehouse is unsafe for them and others with chronic health conditions because coronavirus precautions are being ignored.  Representatives Sue Chew of Boise and Muffy Davis of Ketchum filed the lawsuit asking a judge to order House Speaker Scott Bedke to allow lawmakers to participate remotely and provide other work accommodations.

It’s moving time for some Twin Falls Jail inmates as the construction of a new 90 bed facility has been completed.  Some 35 to 40 inmates have been sleeping on the floor because there have been no beds for them.

More court proceedings are planned for this afternoon in the Lori Vallow-Daybell and Chad Daybell case.  This afternoon the hearing will be over kicking prosecutor Rob Wood off the case.  A recording revealed the prosecutions effort to seek murder charges against the two over the death of Lori’s children.

Both Idaho Senators voted no to the Republican-led effort to object to certifying the results of the 2020 Presidential Election.  Sen. Mike Crapo and Sen. Jim Risch were among the 93 senators who voted no to objecting the electoral ballot certification. Six senators voted to block it.

A more secure Idaho Department of Labor.  That’s what department officials are hoping for as they roll out new security for Idahoans to make sure their private information is safe.  The department has partnered with ID-ME for an extra step to prevent fraud.  It is estimated that scammers have gotten away with $36 billion in unemployment benefits throughout the nation.

As the holiday season wrap up, the Idaho State Police say they had an increase in DUI arrests.  In the district that serves magic valley, officers say they made 101 traffic stops through the New Year’s weekend that resulted in 8 arrests.  Police say they appreciate when citizens call their dispatch to report a possible DUI.  


Tevian Jones and Aanen Moody scored 17 points apiece as Southern Utah won its eighth straight game, narrowly beating Idaho 85-80 last night.

Meanwhile, Tarik Cool had 20 points as Idaho State came out of two weeks of quarantine to narrowly defeated Northern Arizona 73-69.

Tonight Boise State looks for its sixth straight conference win against Air Force. Boise State’s last MWC loss came against the San Diego State Aztecs 81-68 on March 6, 2020. Air Force came up short in a 78-59 game at Boise State in its last outing.  Game time is 6 pm in Boise.

On the hardwood last night in High School action first for the Boys, it was Dietrich winning the game with Richfield 76 to 42.  Murtaugh took the win over Castleford 43 to 42.  It was Gooding 51 Filer 47, Jerome downed Kimberly 58 to 48 and Wendell defeated Lighthouse Christian 62 to 60.  Twin Falls took the win from Minico 63 to 38 and Mountain Home said no to Canyon Ridge 60 to 49.

For the girls, it was Camas County over Richfield 33 to 31 in Overtime.  Raft River outlasted Shoshone 67 to 25.  Valley took the win over Oakley in overtime 38 to 33 and Canyon Ridge won their game against Buhl 31 to 20. 

On the wrestling mats, in the Tri-match where Declo and Gooding were in Kimberly it was Gooding 45 Kimberly 30.  Declo took Gooding 41 to 34 and Declo took the win from Kimberly 45 to 24. 

In another match Jerome took the win from Mountain Home 66 to 18.
