Several accidents, some fatal have occurred in the area over the past couple of days.  Idaho State Police say a 21 year old male and his 27 year old Male passenger both from Ketchum were in a car that failed to negotiate a curve in Jerome county on 13 west and 300 North early Sunday Morning.  The car ended up in a canal.  The driver drowned.  Another crash in Twin Falls yesterday morning at 5000 east and US 30 claimed the life of a 42 year old Mexico man.  Then a three vehicle crash along I-84 in Minidoka County happened yesterday afternoon.  A truck was slowing for construction.  Another truck and a car collided with the first truck.  The car’s driver was taken to the hospital.

In Boise yesterday, Federal Judge David Nye heard arguments for and against a preliminary injunction for Senate Bill 1100, an Idaho law meant to prevent transgender students from using school facilities that correspond with their gender identity.  The temporary restraining order stops enforcement of the law until the court can rule on the plaintiffs’ motion for a preliminary injunction, which would further prevent the ban from going into effect until the lawsuit is settled.  Nye anticipates a decision will be ready “very soon.”

Former Idaho Gov. Buch Otter endorsed the open primary ballot initiative yesterday, becoming the highest profile member of a group of more than 100 Republicans who support the initiative.  Butch Otter spoke at the news conference and said he has opposed closed primary elections for years.

24 year old Devon Larison has been extradited from Tennessee to Twin Falls to face child sexual abuse charges, stemming from the last decade.  According to court documents, when Larison was 18 years old in 2017, he allegedly touched a young child who was about eight at the time at a residence in Twin Falls.  A preliminary hearing set for September 22 at 8:15 a.m.

Area residents can dispose of their pesticides at several locations across the state this month.  The Idaho Department of Agriculture’s pesticide disposal program said it will offer free and safe disposal of unusable or unwanted pesticides from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Burley today at the BLM Field Office and in Twin Falls at the Canal Company on Sept. 26.
