Highway 93 south of Twin Falls was blocked for about 2 hours yesterday because of a 3 vehicle pileup.  Police say the accident happened just before 6 pm when a passenger vehicle attempted to pass a semi-truck.  It collided head on with another vehicle and crashed into the truck. 

It’s education week at the statehouse in Boise.  Legislative budget writers will hear from the state’s schools spending proposals that add up to over half of Idaho’s Budget.  Today they will hear from Boise State, Idaho State and Lewis-Clark.  Tomorrow, State Superintendent Debbie Critchfield will make her pitch.  Thursday it’s the four community colleges and Friday the University of Idaho.

Idaho’s gas prices are now actually below the national average; something that rarely happens.  According to AAA, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is $3.42 today, which is 33 cents more than a month ago.  The national average is $3.39 per gallon, which is 12 cents cheaper than a month ago.

A Boise police officer shot and killed a man yesterday while law enforcement officials were trying to take the man into custody on alleged felony charges, according to police.   Officers were trying to remove the man from a car when police said he produced a weapon.

Former gubernatorial candidate Ammon Bundy pleaded guilty to misdemeanor trespassing yesterday.  The charge stems from an incident when Bundy refused to leave the property of St. Luke’ in Meridian.  The protest happened when a child was taken to the hospital.  Health and Welfare believed the child was in medical danger.

The hearing for Sarah Wondra who authorities believe is connected to the disappearance of 5 year old Michael Vaughan has been reset.  The hearing is set for February 6th and 7th.  She has been charged with failing to report a death.  It’s believed the child was buried at her home but then moved. 

The Idaho Legislature’s House State Affairs Committee introduced a new bill that would create a mandatory waiting period before elected officials can register as lobbyists after leaving office.

In high school basketball from yesterday – first for the boys where American Falls defeated Gooding 56to 50 and Camas County said no to Wendell 68 to 64. 

For the Girls, Glenns Ferry downed Valley 53 to 51.  Raft River outlasted Hansen 58 to 19.  Carey said no way to Shoshone 39 to 37.  It was Murtaugh 47 to Castleford’s 17 and Oakley defeated Lighthouse Christian 48 to 23. 

On today’s Schedule, first for the boys, Twin Falls travels to Jerome, Kimberly heads to Filer, Wood River to Gooding, Glenns Ferry to Hansen, Declo to the Sun Valley Community School.  Hagerman goes to Camas County, Valley to Carey, Murtaugh to Oakley, Shoshone to Lighthouse Christian, Castleford to Raft River, Jackpot to the Twin Falls Christian Academy and Bliss to ISDB.

For the Girls, Jerome to Burley, Wood River to Minico, Vallivue to Canyon Ridge, Mountain Home heads to Twin Falls, Hagerman to Camas County, Wendell to Buhl, Richfield to Dietrich, Jackpot to the Twin Falls Christian Academy and Bliss has a bus ride to the Idaho State School for the Deaf and Blind.

One wrestling meet is set with Declo and Wendell heading to compete at Valley.
