The Washington state Medical Commission has accused a medical doctor in Idaho of violating standards related to COVID-19 and patient care.  The commission said it had issued a statement of disciplinary charges against Dr. Ryan Cole of Idaho and currently is one of Ada County’s appointed members of the Central District Board of Health. 

A bestselling author of crime stories and other nonfiction works is working on a book about the stabbing deaths last fall of four students at the University of Idaho.  Howard Blum has a deal with HarperCollins Publishers.  Blum has been reporting on the Idaho killings for Air Mail, the digital newsletter co-founded by former Vanity Fair editor-in-chief Graydon Carter.

Blaine county deputies arrested a 19 year old while he was burglarizing a home in Ketchum.  Just after 9 pm Wednesday the suspect was in his vehicle at the residence with seven bottles of alcohol with a value of $750-$1,000 each from the home. During a search incident to arrest, a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia were located. In addition to the burglary, Jacob Russell was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. 

An Idaho judge says a couple accused in a bizarre triple murder case will not be allowed to meet face-to-face to talk about strategy before they stand trial in April.  Attorneys for Lori Vallow Daybell and Chad Daybell presented several requests to 7th District Judge Steven Boyce during a motion hearing on Thursday, including that the trial be delayed until 2024 and that the death penalty be taken off the table.

Idaho Health and Welfare Director Dave Jeppesen went before Idaho legislators three days in a row this week to present the agency’s budget request. And each day, House and Senate members on the Joint Finance-Appropriation Committee asked “Why should we spend money on this?”  The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare’s overall budget request is $5.49 billion, about 11.6% more than last year’s fiscal year appropriation.

The Idaho Fish and Game say last Friday a resident of Ketchum received substantial injuries in her driveway area after a moose attack.  The encounter started between an unleashed small dog and the moose. When the homeowner attempted to intervene, the moose charged the woman.  While unconscious the moose continued to attack her. 

SPORTS

Brayden Parker scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as Idaho State beat Sacramento State 65-61 on Thursday night.  Miguel Tomley and Kolby Lee added 10 points apiece for the Bengals.  Both teams next play tomorrow. Idaho State hosts Portland State while Sacramento State visits Weber State.

For the season, CSI men move to 22 wins and 0 losses while the women sit at 20-2.  On Thursday night, the Golden Eagles defeated the Community Christian College Saints 118 to 44.  The women took the win in their game 102 to 41.

On to the local high school basketball games from yesterday for the boys, Declo downed Soda Springs 46 to 40.  Buhl said no to Filer 63 to 57.  Wendell defeated the Sun Valley Community School 59 to 32.  It was Mackay 55 Twin Falls Christian Academy 30.  Pocatello outlasted Burley 83 to 56.  Jerome took the win from Canyon Ridge 57 to 49.  Minico outlasted Mountain Home 41 to 29.  It was Wood River 53 to Twin Falls 38 and Camas County defeated Richfield 44 to 39.

For the Girls, Richfield said no way to Camas County 46 to 13.  Valley for the win over Hansen 62 to 44.  Raft River said no to Carey with a score of 42 to 39.  Dietrich was victorious over Hagerman 50 to 16.  Oakley for the win over Glenns Ferry 57 to 36, Filer over Aberdeen 57 to 45 and Shoshone over Castleford 34 to 24.  Kimberly bested Gooding 51 to 35 and Murtaugh defeated Lighthouse Christian with a score of 64 to 48.

On  todays, Schedule for the boys, Jerome travels to Buhl, Dietrich goes to Watersprings, Hansen goes to Oakley and Hagerman plays Midvale at the Nampa Christian High School.  Carey goes to Glenns Ferry.  Gooding to Kimberly, Raft River travels to Twin Falls to play Lighthouse Christian.  Murtaugh goes to Shoshone and Castleford to Valley. 

For the girls, Burley travels to Twin Falls to play Canyon Ridge.  Twin Falls goes to Minico.  Buhl to Mountain Home, Jerome to Wood River, Hagerman will travel to Twin Falls to play Christian Academy.  Rockland goes to Richfield and American Falls goes to Declo. 

On the wrestling mats, it’s the Tiger/Grizz tournament at the Idaho Falls Skyline High School.  The Gooding Duals Tournament is set for today along with the Aberdeen Duals and Jerome at the Polar Plunge retreat at Snake River.
