The southern Idaho job market could be described as hot.  More jobs are showing up and there are few people to fill those jobs according to the department of labor.  In May there were 2700 people looking with over 3000 openings.  The unemployment rate was 2 and a half percent in April.

The Nez Perce Tribe and U.S. Forest Service have signed an agreement allowing the two to team up on projects in the 6,250-square-mile Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests.  The Forest Service said the agreement through the Good Neighbor Authority will initially focus on fuels reduction projects to reduce wildfire threats.

This morning there are a couple of weather advisories in southern Idaho.  First a wind advisory through 9 this evening with southerly gusts expected up to 50 miles per hour.  Secondly the flood advisory continues for the Big Wood River in Hailey until further notice.

A Boise woman who was arrested last year in connection to the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riots pleaded not guilty to the six federal charges against her.  53 year old Yvonne St Cyr was one of six Idahoans that have been charged in connection with the Jan. 6 riot. During the incident St Cyr entered the Capitol and posted a live-streamed video on Facebook.

An Idaho man who was among 31 others arrested in downtown Coeur d'Alene for conspiracy to riot during a Pride event is a cadet in the Idaho National Guard.  21-year-old Winston Durham enlisted in the Idaho National Guard in February 2019, according to Idaho National Guard spokesman Lt. Col. Christopher Borders.  Durham has been placed on a leave of absence until the investigation into the incident in is complete, according to Borders.

The Boise Police Department is aware of a Boise pastor's sermon calling for LGBTQ people to "be put to death", but says it does not meet the legal requirement for criminal hate speech or malicious harassment.  In a May sermon, Pastor Joe Jones of Shield of Faith Baptist Church in Boise told his congregation "put all queers to death."  "When they die that stops the pedophilia," Jones said.

SPORTS

In a doubleheader yesterday, the Twin Falls Cowboys took the win victories in both games over Stansbury, Utah.  In game one, it was Twin Falls 10 over Stansbury 0.  In Game 2 it was Twin Falls 7 Stansbury 3.  The cowboys next doubleheader will be against Stayton Oregon Today.

Five Broncos were named to the Phil Steele Preseason All-Mountain West First Team, highlighting Boise State's 14 selections, the annual preseason magazine announced this week.  Thirteen student-athletes accounted for the Broncos' 14 spots on the list, as Stefan Cobbs earned nods at both wide receiver and punt returner. Boise State's 14 selections tied for the second-most in the conference, behind Fresno State.  Offensive linemen Ben Dooley and John Ojukwu, defensive lineman Scott Matlock, safety JL Skinner and kicker Jonah Dalmas received first-team honors.
