Amid growing fuel demand and a turbulent crude oil market, Idaho drivers could be paying an average price of $4.50 per gallon sometime in the next few days.  According to AAA, the state’s average price for regular is $4.48 per gallon today, which is about four cents more than a week ago and seven cents more than a month ago.  Meanwhile, the national average currently sits at $4.33.  The Gem State currently ranks 13th in the country for most expensive fuel.

In Jerome County primary election, a series of candidates are up for election.  Mark Swenson is the sole candidate up for election as County Assessor. Three county commissioners are up for election in Jerome County. Charles M Howell, Mike Praegitzer, and John P. Crozier are running for the second and third district.

A freeze warning is worrying those who’s fruit crops might be lost this summer.  The national weather service is warning of frosty mornings through tomorrow.  In the orchards owners say if the temperature gets to 28 degrees they will loose 10 percent of their crop and 24 degrees 90 percent will be lost.

The ceremonial groundbreaking in twin Falls for a new fire station happened  yesterday.  City officials say three other stations will be upgraded.

Republican Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin, who is running for governor against incumbent Republican Brad Little, has a $2,000 budget deficit in her office that will have to come out of next year’s appropriation.   Tthe state controller’s office planning to withhold McGeachin’s salary by the amount of the shortfall this fiscal year that ends June 30.

Idaho Republican Lt. Gov. and gubernatorial candidate Janice McGeachin on Monday demanded that Republican Gov. Brad Little call a special legislative session to eliminate rape and incest as legal exceptions to Idaho’s abortion law.  The Idaho law will go into effect if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns the landmark Roe v. Wade case that legalized abortion nationwide.



In  local sports, for games that will be played today, first to baseball, where the 3 a district tournament is on.  Buhl takes on filer in Filer at 5.  The winner will play in Pocatello on Saturday.  For 2A action, Wendell travels to Declo.
