More than 1,000 protesters gathered yesterday in Boise during a visit by President Joe Biden to rail against his plan to bring the coronavirus pandemic under control, last year’s presidential election and a host of other issues.  Biden visited Boise as part of a swing through three Western states to promote his administration’s use of a wartime law to aid in wildfire preparedness and push his economic agenda.

A man died and at least four students were hospitalized after a school bus and pickup truck collided in eastern Idaho yesterday morning.  The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office said the collision happened around 8 a.m. when the driver of a pickup truck failed to yield at a stop sign and the bus was unable to avoid the collision. The crash caused the bus to overturn on its side in a field.  The driver of the pickup died at the scene.

The Biden administration has told Idaho officials that Boise and Twin Falls are two of the 139 U.S. cities selected to resettle refugees seeking asylum from Afghanistan.  The move prompted Governor Brad Little and the entire Idaho congressional delegation to remind President Joe Biden that Idaho expects the federal government to uphold the most stringent vetting standards in the resettlement of the refugees.

Expect to see face coverings once again in Hailey.  Yesterday, the city council unanimously passed an emergency health order requiring coverings within the city limits.  The order will be reviewed October 12th

The Wendell Elementary school will be closed the rest of the week.  The school district superintendent took to facebook to say they currently don’t have enough teachers because of COVID-19.

A 34 year old Rupert man is facing 10 counts of possessing child sexually materials after the FBI said they found about 20-thousand images and videos in his possession.  Jacob G. Holy was arraigned in magistrate court on Friday.

A drop in gas prices has been delayed because of Hurricane Ida.  According to AAA, nationwide fuel demand is starting to slip, but the high price of crude oil due to production issues in the Gulf has kept drivers from saving at the pump.

Boise State sophomore Jonah Dalmas was named a Lou Groza Award "Star of the Week" for his perfect kicking performance in Friday's victory over UTEP.  College football's top kicking award, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award presented by the Orange Bowl recognizes three top kickers each week from FBS division teams as the "Stars of the Week."  Dalmas was 4-for-4 on field goals, connecting from 39, 34, 29 and 27 yards out, and was 6-for-6 on extra points, contributing 18 points to the Broncos' 54-13 win over the Miners.  Boise State junior Stefan Cobbs was named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll, Monday, for his historic performance.  Next, Boise State hosts No. 23 Oklahoma State Saturday at 7 p.m. MT.  The game will be on F-S- 1.

In High School Boys Soccer from yesterday, first for the boys, Canyon Ridge defeated Burley 3 to 1.  Jerome shut out Minico 5 to 0 and Twin Falls overpowered Mountain Home 1 to 0. 

In Girls soccer, Twin Falls said no to Mountain Home 8 to 0.  Canyon Ridge defeated Burley 4 to 0 and Jerome shut out Minico 3 to 0.

In Volleyball, Shoshone outlasted Carey 3 to 2 and Sun Valley told Dietrich no way 3 to 2.  It was Richfield 3 Twin Falls Christian Academy 1.
