Bountiful Utah authorities say a Shoshone man was arrested yesterday after he rammed a police car with his truck and tried to hit two other police vehicles while fleeing a hit and run crash.  51 year old Cory Adams was arrested around 2:30 Sunday morning.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a former Idaho lawmaker who resigned in disgrace after a 19-year-old intern reported that he brought her to his apartment on false pretenses and raped her.  The arrest warrant comes nearly five months after Aaron von Ehlinger resigned from the Idaho House of Representatives.

President Joe Biden is in Idaho today to visit the National Interagency Fire Center.  Biden’s trip to the western U.S. will also include a stop in Sacramento, California to survey wildfire damage.

If you are looking for a job, the city of Twin Falls would like to talk to you.  Officials say many city positions are open.  Everything from Firefighters, police officers and public workers officials say. 

Idaho Governor Brad Little said the gem state is exploring legal options to stop President Biden’s Vaccine Mandate.  The mandate requires all companies with at least 100 employees to show proof of vaccines or regular testing for its employees.  Little called the mandate an unprecedented overreach into the private sector.

The City of Twin Falls is seeking the public’s help in identifying those responsible for destroying public trees in the area of Sunrise Park at the 300 block of Madrona Street North.  The City Parks Department received a report of the damage from a sharp object on August 30th   Then on Sept. 9, a second report was received for tree damage in the same area.  The damage is estimated to be more than $12,000.

With school districts across Idaho reporting substitute teacher shortages, Governor Brad Little has announced new steps he is taking to expand the pool of substitute teachers so students can continue to learn in person.  Some school districts are facing a shortage of hundreds of substitute teachers. Governor Little is putting $10 million toward new “Substitute Teacher Recruitment Grants”.

SPORTS

Carson Strong threw for 381 yards and four touchdowns, and Nevada beat Idaho State 49-10 on Saturday night.   Strong completed 34 of 43 passes that included two touchdowns to Elijah Cooks, who finished with seven receptions for 89 yards.

Indiana had something to prove Saturday night. The Hoosiers didn’t disappoint.  Michael Penix Jr. threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score and Indiana took advantage of two special teams touchdowns and a dominant defense to rout Idaho 56-14.

Hank Bachmeier threw for 340 yards and two touchdowns, and Stefan Cobbs added a special teams touchdown and a 61-yard scoring reception as Boise State defeated UTEP 54-13 Friday night.  Boise State gave first-year coach Andy Avalos his first win and the program’s 20th straight home opening victory, playing in front of a capacity crowd for the first time since 2019.

In a recap of local high school football scores from Friday night action:  Burley defeated Wood River 27 to 20 and now the Bobcats will travel over to the Bulldogs with kickoff set at 7pm in non-conference play.  Meanwhile Kimberly faced off with the Declo Hornets in a nail biter Friday night and fell to the Hornets with the final score of 41 to 40 in overtime. Declo will now travel to Buhl for non-conference play.  The Hornets are 3-0 on the season while Buhl is 0 and 2.  Gooding trounced all over Mountain Home in a non-conference game with the final score of 48 to 13. Gooding has a by week this week, while Mountain Home will defend their home turf against the Minico Spartans as Minico is coming off a by week.  In other Football action – The Bruins manhandled the Riverhawks with a final score of 48 to 6.. and will face off with Jerome in the Battle of the Bridge this Friday. Speaking of which Jerome lost their third straight game to Shelly with the final score of 49 to 7.  Elsewhere it was Oakley 52 Kendrick 0.  Castleford 32 Dietrich 16,  Filer 28 American Falls 14, Glenns  Ferry 46 Shoshone 6, Murtaugh 56 Challis 20 and it was Carey 54 Wilder 0.

Lots of local high school Soccer action to keep up with for the boys and the girls.  For the Boys – Twin Falls got the best of Burley with the final score of 4 to 1, Juan (Vill – al – vah-zo) scored the Bobcats only goal and Burley will host Canyon Ridge this afternoon.

 

For the Girls – the lady Bruins skunked the lady Bobcats with the final of 10 to 0, the lady Bobcats will also travel to the Riverhawks for a match up this afternoon. Kimberly defeated the Sun Valley Community School.. the Lady Cutthroats lost their first conference game in ten years. The Bulldogs scored in the opening minutes of the game and maintained the lead through the final whistle to win 3-1.  The Declo Lady Hornets to a hard loss to Bliss 4 to 1, and in the midst of it all – lost their goalie Taylor Tee-gan to a broken collarbone in a melee near the while Tee-gan was in possession And Wendell defeated Gooding 5 to 2: Gooding came out strong in first 5 minutes of the game, with Vanessa Reyes finding the net. Wendell started connecting passes down the field, moving the ball nicely.  At end of the half it was Wendell 4 - Gooding 2.
