Around 200 troops from the Idaho Army National Guard will be deployed this fall to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Spartan Shield.  The operation, which has been active for years, is to supply support for active troops in the area.  The mission is not a response to the recent activity in Afghanistan.

President Joe Biden will travel to Boise on Monday in an effort to survey the wildfire damage in the West.  Biden will visit the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise as part of his first stop in the West.

More than seven hours of testimony was presented in the Cassia County courtroom yesterday to decide if the murder case against Jimmy Lee Murphy should be bound over to District Court.  Murphy is accused of the shooting death of his wife, 26 year old Whitney Murphy, on October 26 2014 and the attempted murder of a neighbor.  The hearing resumes Tuesday.

The bipartisan redistricting commission continues to work their way through the plans that will shape the new legislative boundaries for Idaho.  Co Chairman Bart Davis said this is going to be as hard as people told us it would be. They have until November 30th to redraw Idaho’s 35 districts and 2 congressional districts.

There may be a few less chairs at this year’s eastern Idaho Fair.  That’s because a large semi overturned yesterday morning on US 91 north of Blackfoot.  The truck overturned after driving off the roadway.  The 19 year old driver sustained minor injuries.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality is lifting the Air Pollution Forecast and Caution for Blaine, Camas, Cassia, Gooding, Jerome, Lincoln, Minidoka, and Twin Falls counties. Air quality is currently in the Moderate category.  Some pockets of smoke may linger today.

The Western Idaho Fair in Garden City is being hailed as a success this year.  More than 273 thousand people head to the fair one year after it was canceled because of Covid-19.  The organizers say turnout was up 9 percent from 2019. 


Tonight it’s game time for the Boise State Bronco’s.  This will be the first home game as the Bronco’s host UTEP.  Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.  Fans are looking forward to being able to watch the Broncos in person for the first time in a long time.  The Broncos lost their season opener 36-31 at Central Florida last week, BSU started off with a bang taking a 7-0 lead.

The Boise Hawks first regular season in the Pioneer Baseball League is coming to an end, but their postseason goals live on. For the first time since 2014, the Hawks have clinched a spot in the playoffs.   The team clinched their playoff spot in front of Hawks fans at memorial stadium on Monday in a 7-3 victory against the Grand Junction Rockies.

One local football game score to report from last night.  Gooding defeated Mountain Home with a score of 48 to 13. 

In Boys Soccer Kimberly shut the game out against Kimberly 2 to 0 and it was Bliss overpowering Declo 5 to 1.

For the Girls it was Pocatello 11 Burley 0.  Bliss said no to Declo 4 to 1.  Kimberly defeated the Sun Valley community school with a 3 to 1 score.  Wendell outlasted Gooding 5 to 2. 

In Volleyball action it was Buhl 3 American Falls 0.  Dietrich took the win over Castleford 3 to 0.  Shoshone said no way to Valley 3 to 0 and Twin Falls Christian Academy took the win over Camas County 3 to 0.  Murtaugh defeated Hansen 3 to 0.  Carey took the victory over Challis 2 to 1.  Glenns Ferry outlasted Carey 2 to 0.  Wood River defeated Canyon Ridge 3 to 1.  Twin Falls took the win from Minico 3 to 2 and it was Jerome 3 Mountain Home 0. 

On the High School Football schedule for tonight, Burley travels to Wood River, Canyon Ridge Plays Twin Falls.  Jerome takes Shelley on and American Falls travels to Filer.  It’s Kimberly traveling to Declo, Valley is in Ririe, Wendell is at Cole Valley Christian.  Rimrock is in Glenns Ferry  while Challis travels to Murtaugh.  Grace is in Raft River, North Gem in Camas County, Carey at Wilder and Dietrich is in Castleford.  There is one Volleyball game.  Twin Falls Christian Academy will play the Sun valley community school and there is one Cross Country meet.  The Tiger Grizz invitational at noon today.
